is pretty good at what she does.
I'm also partial to , with Ladybug Mecca (Mariana Vieira). They kind of have an old-school east-coast sound a la Tribe.

Rah Digga, her freestyle starts after 6 minutes here (Young M.A. is perfectly fine but it's a complete mismatch in style):
Roxanne Shante (classic dis track off a 1984 VHS tape, she was 14 years old):
Sweet Tee feat Jazzy Joyce (third commercial song to sample James Brown, that's how old it is):
Princess and Diamond from Crime Mob (their verses start at 0:50 and 2:24 respectively) - this song breaks ribs and faces (you asked for powerful):

When I think about "powerful female" Serena Williams comes to mind first

And she makes some rap

More garage than hip hop, but still a much better flow than most in the list so far (IMO)
Somewhere halfway between rap and straight singing but tune is straight up strange and seems quite far removed from mainstream rnb/rap
Again, more of a hybrid vibe but great flow

with that said...her politics are completely ass backwards. the tamils got chased out of sri lanka because they were a bunch of violent terrorists and the sri lankan people and govt. got sick of their bullshit and took care of the problem.
the "tamil tigers" were a recognized terrorist organization with ties to other known terrorist organizations. they carried out assasinations, engaged in suicide bombings, piracy, drug smuggling, and human trafficking...among other assorted super nice things.
screw them and screw her for supporting them.

And there is a femal Berlin rapper, which does not feed that bunch of cliches we got so used to. The majority of rap is sexist and racist beyond a possible artistic justification. She opposes this with intelligent poesie...
And not by fighting against, but by telling her story how she got out that shit herself, out of her female perspective...
Its german, don‘t know,if there are translations around...
