If it touts the Monark filter then that's kind of a strong push in the direction of being Reaktor based. (Which I am 100% fine with.)

Actually, having had a look under the hood of Monark, I believe the development could be recreated outside of Reaktor or have been prototyped 'elsewhere'. I don't know, but without getting into the weeds it doesn't look like anything I've seen.

So I don't know how dependent 'Monark Filter' really is on Reaktor. Why can't they stick it in Kontakt? Where do the Kontakt 5 filters derive from?

Can anyone explain why it even remotely matters? If it can be loaded standalone, I couldn't really care less. I'm more bothered about, ya know, is it a good synth?

Yeah. This place has a lot of negativity. It matters to people who don't have enough computer to run Reaktor, one supposes.

Just sayin'. I'm not bothered by anything needing Reaktor to load, that's for sure. Except for Absynth, all synths I even use are Reaktor.
Wait, I bought Equator from ROLI. I plan to explore that, maybe in the next project. I already bought Kontakt 6, interested in its new synth engine.

It's probably amazing. I think Razor is amazing. I don't care if it is a Reaktor synth or not.

That doesn't change the fact that I think that it's a Reaktor-based synth that has new Reaktor-based wavetable oscillators and Monark Filters in it. Instead of coming up with a new name for it, they intelligently, from a marketing standpoint, decided to name it after Massive.

I happen to feel that if it is supposed to be the next Massive, then it should at least pretend to follow in the other synth's footsteps. Keep the logo, keep the blue/gray color scheme, keep the three primary oscillators and two filters and the stepper and all that.

If the only thing that unites it is the use of wavetable oscillators, is it really Massive? It might be, and probably is, amazing. But is it Massive?

someone probably already pointed this out, but Reaktor is not the most efficient synth host ever

In addition it makes patch management and host automation a bit more complicated than just having a stand alone VSTi. I use Reaktor in VEP instances as well, and again it is more difficult to use remotely than a normal VSTi.

None of that is a Massive X ... errr I mean big problem IMO. I use Reaktor quite a bit. I use Razor, SkannerXT and Kontour quite a bit. Heck I even drop in Polyplex from time to time as it's kind of a fun little guy. Anyone who argues that Reaktor as a wrapper somehow affects the "sound" of the synth is yacking out their south side.

SJ_Digriz - sure. But none of that applies once its a standalone synth, which was sorta my point. Arguably CPU use might be higher, but I wouldn't be at all sure of that.

I would take EDs statement that MX is not a Reaktor synth. I'm just another of the opinion that even if it was, the complaint is overblown.

I use it in VE Pro, except if I need to interact with controls via the mouse; Skanner I always use in Cubendo.
It's like this: VEP automation map window; learn; touch the parameter and it's in the list.
MIDI OTOH is a bit clunky to assign, I mean it takes an additional step here: learn MIDI/OSC, establish a CC in Cubendo, then go back and sort it in Reaktor. It's not a huge deal but it is pretty stupid. I use it when the instrument is designed for it: Steampipe/Steampipe 2 is. When I automate Skanner or Kontour it's Host Automation. In Cubendo I move knobs with the mouse with Write enabled and lanes are created.

I have to set Kontakt Host Automation up in its list, then learn in VEP. VEP simply learns what you touch in Reaktor. Unless there is some instrument I'm not using which behaves funny.

I don't do saves in instrument much any more, I save a couple or three levels in VEP (channel set, project, server project). More hassle than it's worth in some things.
