I don’t think “need” usually factors into the decision to buy music technology products. More like: does it sound good? Is it fun? Can I afford it? Bought!
Everything Sean does is top quality, and priced so reasonably! I don’t even have to hear it to know that I’m going to buy it.

Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

This would help immensely in quickly tweaking presets to make your own, and auditioning different sounds while working on a specific mix.

I'm pretty sure this is more than one modeled delay type.
And from his demos, I'm already convinced that there's room for another delay.
I have a feeling that this is gonna be about character more than "tricks." I didn't buy color copy either for the same reason (as rod_zero) as it seemed too limited, but I think this one is gonna be amazing.

I'm betting he's gonna kill it once people start comparing it.Vortifex wrote: Sun Sep 30, 2018 1:10 am IIRC he didn't have much competition in the price bracket he put his reverbs in, but that's not going to be the case with a delay plugin. Still, very interested to see the Valhalla take on a tape delay.
There are an insane number of delay plugins out there, but once you get past the capability of mixing a delayed signal with the dry signal and the timing of it, you get to where they are different and at this point, the number of unique delays becomes a much smaller number.

Valhalla Ooh La La !

Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

I'm not doubting you, but care to enlighten us? What are the 'new to the world of delay' features of Colour Copy?EvilDragon wrote: Sat Sep 29, 2018 9:30 amIt does do offer some new things in the world of delay effects. You might have missed it, though.mholloway wrote: Fri Sep 28, 2018 10:32 pmI was already bored with U-He's "colour copy" because for me it just doesn't offer anything new or compelling to the world of delay effects.

For me, it's the quality of the saturation and quality of pitch modulations.mholloway wrote: Sun Sep 30, 2018 6:00 pmI'm not doubting you, but care to enlighten us? However, i still use my other delays, as Replika XT, Echoboy, boz imperial delay, psp 608, Excalibur etc.
(haven't used FabFilter's timeless for a while, though...)

ColourCopy is also the only delay I can think of that does feedback ducking. Other ducking delays I've seen/used only do amp ducking. Feedback ducking is great because the initial delays are normal volume, but subsequent delays are ducked until the input falls below a certain threshold. Works for great for things like guitars and synths where you want to hear the delay, and use long feedback, but don't want the feedback drowning out the main sound.Arrested Developer wrote: Sun Sep 30, 2018 6:14 pmFor me, it's the quality of the saturation and quality of pitch modulations.mholloway wrote: Sun Sep 30, 2018 6:00 pmI'm not doubting you, but care to enlighten us? And as pointed out, the delays themselves sound excellent. Go throw up ColourCopy on a track, with a healthy mix and some feedback and compare it to your other delays. Do you hear a difference? Does ColourCopy sound better (or different enough) than some of your current go-to's? Did for me. Even when compared to other bucket brigades.

Boz's Imperial Delay can also have ducking either outside or inside the feedback loop - essential if you want the classic 'repeat the last phrase of the vocal only' delay effectFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sun Sep 30, 2018 8:59 pm ColourCopy is also the only delay I can think of that does feedback ducking.
