Excuse for the very basic question, but how do you select a sound bank from an external sound module in T? I can select a patch number with the slider, but not a bank and there are quite a few banks on my sound module.
Also, the set program button doesn't seem to work as it doesn't change the patch behing played; i have to change patche with the slider; A bug?

Thank you.

can you give me a steer on how to select Midi Banks (preferably in MSB / LSB format)?
From Mr Platinum Ears...

Banks select messages are made of 2 controller messages: cc0 = MSB, CC32 = LSB. Tracktion calls them "Bank Select" & "Bank Select (fine)"

To insert them, press the controller knob to the left of the keyboard in the piano roll, go to "controllers" at the bottom, and choose "Bank Select" from the big list. You can then use the pen tool to insert a controller at the appropriate point, and set the value (MSB). Repeat with cc32 to set the LSB.

Its not very friendly, but it should work.
I draw the line at power tools for the under 5's.

Thank's Ishea. I don't know how this feature was found, as I see no mention of it in the "manual".
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work; yes I can draw the program change node in the clip, it just doesn't seem to do anything. I even tried to send a controller message at the beginning of a clip to make sure my sound module was in XG mode, no go  (my module only respond to bank change in XG mode). I'm gonna try to write the sysex manually, as soon as I figured out how, and see how that goes.

BTW: Jule, if you're reading this, I think Tracktion has reached a point where a proper and complete user manual would be in order. For myself, I'm reluctant to suggest Tracktion to friends and relations, no matter how good a program it is, until there's a manual out; Hunting about on the net and message board is not something everybody is prepared to do just to figure out the most simple of things.

Jules told me about a year that T only supports GM

That would explain a lot. It would also put a major dent in my workflow... And hard to believe in 2004. Well, the quest for a "do it all" software is still on, but the list is getting thinner.

I posted about this long ago as well and was told only GM. Kinda sucks.

I sure hope this is changed in version 2. Even ***really*** basic sequencers should have a way to use non-GM voice bank names / bank changes. Id settle for just a way to change the GM names with a text editor or even just get rid of the name and replace with numbers so I dont have "1-piano" when using some string voice 1 on my SY77

I guess its part of the shift from midi to more audio based work.

I wouldn't really call it a "feature".. basically Tracktion doesn't support bank select messages atm, which is probably why its not mentioned in the docs.

I just suggested a way to use Tracktions controller editing features as a work-around (as behind the scenes 1 bank select message = 2 CC messages)
