Hey all,

Very excited to share a new update for Tantrum, our digital phase distortion plugin, with a brand new look:

Tantrum v1.1.1 brings long-requested features like automatic gain compensation (AGC), alongside a bold new optional dark interface and an amazing set of 40+ presets from Sean Divine, Sixis, and John Montoya. This update is free for those who already own Tantrum, and otherwise doesn't affect the sale price ($49.99 USD).

Formats: VST2, VST3, AU for OS X 10.9+ and Windows 8.1+.

Full changelist:

New dark skin with an option to toggle between the existing light variant and the new dark variant.
New presets from Sean Divine, Sixis, and John Montoya.
Automatic Gain Compensation (AGC) around the two distortion stages to enable interaction with the XY Pad with a consistent output level.
An option to bypass the crossover band split, enabling distortion of the whole input signal.
Dynamic oversampling configuration; a huge performance improvement when working at higher sampling rates.
Several minor stability improvements and bug fixes.

Tantrum, a new take on digital distortion plugins, is born from the same unique phase distortion as in Temper, but has grown into a far more powerful, dynamic sound. Tantrum features two distortion stages. First, a wave shaping stage, featuring five classic curve shapes from soft tape saturation to aggressive foldback distortion. Next, a completely redesigned phase modulation distortion, taking the original input signal through a stereo delay to modulate the phase of the distorted signal, bringing new subtlety to “warmth” and new aggression to “overdrive.”

I use it on everything, new GUI choice is great and the new presets are fab.

Let me join the party.

First time I hear about this plugin. I have to say I'm not really a distortion type of guy, as I mostly work with mellow drones and synthetic textures but I decided to give that guy a try and.... W O W ! Amazing sound (and look! That XY dynamic pad is really gorgeous).

Since I'm not after any emulation of a real saturation sound or distortion unit, I'm more interested into purely digital, new and unusual sounds. And this distortion plugin totally fits the bill! I love it so far, it really adds some crunch and crispiness to the textures I've tried on. I'll test more on other material but maaan, I think I'll have to bite and get it, I really like it. (and a unique distortion what missing into my arsenal)

Great job!

BTW: I noticed that the dark skin in not saved within my Live session (OS X). When I reopen my session and Tantrum, the white skin is back. Could that be fixed?

Terribly sorry I let this go unanswered for so long, it totally slipped by me. Yes, currently if you toggle into the dark skin it will only persist for the duration of your session. When you close and reopen it will reset to white. This is definitely something that can be updated and I've already got it on my list for the next update.

This is a great distortion to add just that right amount of distortion to a bass so it just cuts through without taking over the whole track...until you want it too. Fantastic sound and incredibly versatile.

In the top bar of the editor you can see two buttons on the right hand side. The right-most (hexagonal) button toggles the help screen, and the inner half-moon/half-pie button toggles the light/dark skin.

And take note of Neon Breath's comment above about the persistance of the skin!

I’d never paid much attention to phase distortion before, but since using Tantrum, I’m finding that it’s been one of those “something’s missing” to my music.

I think Creative Intent is dead/bankrupt and stopped doing business few months ago.
