I'm not a huge fan of UA soundwise (own them all except Flip) but I must say these examples all sound fantastic!

Opening BYOME interface in Bitwig makes CPU and GPU usage surge to 20% and depending on your luck the UI is either scaled properly or it's all over the place.

edit: Same story in FL20; High CPU utilization even in idle. Makes no sense that the UI consumes as many resources as Overwatch.
Not seeing that here at all, In either DAW. At idle it adds 1 point on the cpu meter in FL20 here.
In Logic, I experience a very low CPU use.

Same issue here with the GUI. Eats about 30% of my GPU and 10% CPU when the GUI is open. Now that you mentioned it, I checked my other UA plugins and they all do the same thing too. I guess this is "normal".

Its a cool plugin like all of their previous efforts, for me I prefer the Kilohearts Multipass for this kind of mangling. Yes I know they are different obviously and BYOME has granular and more mod options etc. For me its a pass on it bearing in mind I have most of their existing plugins.

I thought this was normal as it happens with SpecOPs too for me. I get around 15% CPU with GUIs open.
Closing the GUI gives normal CPU.

A single guitar line with one instance of BYOME, all the automation is built into the preset.

the CPU thing occurs in Reaper vst2 or 3 as well. Locks up track volumes when open as well.

This thing is great. Also some of the new features to be added will make it even more amazing. Good job UA!

Ok so I have come across a few things;

As others have mentioned, the gpu/cpu hit even when idle is substantial.

Also am I missing something or can you not assign any of the internal macros (other than macros) to host automation?
That seems huge to me...I really want to be able to automate the parameters. In bitwig there are tons of modulators too and it would be amazing to combine them with the internal ones.

Obviously there are incredibly cool modulators inside the plugin, but I would like to automate on and off/ wet/dry mix etc.

Other than that it would be nice to use unlimited modulators and effect modules. It would also be really nice to be able to route the audio wherever.

Thing I’m finding now - with bitwig, you have so many modulators/macros/sidechaining/free routing of audio and midi that most of the time it makes sense to do it in there.

That said there are very special and interesting modulators in this plug - same for the modules themselves.

Post

You can only automate the macros and the parameters in the "global section" (Like the global mix, input volume, output volume etc.), as far as I know.
So far this has always been enough for me, as you can route the macros anywhere you want, including using the exponent modulator to scale things etc.

Does Unfiltered Audio have discounted releases a la u-he? Or will I have a better chance of a discount during a later sale?

Post

Host parameter automation is problematic in a modular environment, because the list of exposed parameters can change at any moment.

A big part of the piano example I posted above is the deep verb going nuts, it responds very well to modulation.

Here is a another demo I just made. It's a little bit more "boring" and conventional this time :hihi:
It's a simple aw saw sequence through one instance of BYOME:

I used the trigger sequencer to trigger a filter envelope in sync with the pattern of the saw line, which works really well.

I'm impressed.
I hope for the right pricing and for my old mac to be able to run this plugin (which is the most important thing, otherwise I will have to wait untill I'll upgrade my studio machine).

Yeah, I'm really impressed too so far, and that doesn't happen all that often to me. This is far more than a "glitch machine", it's more like a really good sound design multi FX workstation, even though it's obviously very good at "drop me on a track, select a preset and have instant glitchiness" too. I strongly encourage people to really get into this thing, though. There are a lot of possibilities.
Even after spending quite a bit of time with it, I'm still finding new ways to use it.

Just a nifty little thing I just came up with, a one knob DJ style filter in BYOME :hihi:

When the "Filter" macro is below 50%, it opens a LP filter, above 50% it opens a HP filter, with a completely dry sound at exactly 50%.
