Get it to support the development of Diversion 2
and there could very well be a decent upgrade path!

I'm demoing this and have an odd behaviour where looped samples don't seem to work below a certain pitch. High notes keep looping, low notes play once and stop.
Has anyone else seen this? Is it a known bug?

If you want to make a fat unison pad and your cpu can handle one note of 8 voice unison panned nicely all around the stereofield, record a static C3 note for... 8 seconds for example? Then load that to OSC 1-3. Set unison back to 1 and spread etc to default value.escalona wrote: Fri Oct 12, 2018 11:05 pm Another issue I read here is the CPU usage. To be honest, I was scared about this, but the truth is that it takes about 10% for one instance on Studio One 4 in my ancient 2010 Windows 7 PC build.
Osc 1 up 1 octave, osc 3 down one octave, play with amp and bus filter adsr and booom you have a huge pad that uses maybe 5% of cpu instead of 25%.

Well I just downloaded a bunch of third party presets, and some are indeed a bit more usable in my music than the stock bank. Actually I did demo Thorn as well some time ago, but wrote if off as equally harsh and piercing, and not very usable for me, based on the presets.recursive one wrote: Tue Oct 09, 2018 11:55 amI agree that Dmitry's own presets are very unusual and creative but I see why they may not appeal to people looking for bread and butter synth stuff. Also he seems to have preference to very harsh, almost ear-piercing sounds (this is even more apparent with Thorn factory presets). Actually when I tried Diversion for the first time I also decided that it sounds "harsh and digital in a bad way". Only when I started to proram my own patches I realized how good it can actually sound (No way I'd think that I'm better sound designer than Dmitry, I just prefer a bit different sound character)chk071 wrote: Tue Oct 09, 2018 11:14 amI agree. His stuff is great.Delta Sign wrote: Tue Oct 09, 2018 11:12 am I'm surprised people didn't like the presets. Dmitry is an amazingly creative sound designer.
I will try to program some patches from scratch and see what I can come up with.
At least I'm not finding the CPU usage to be that bad. Obviously if you use 8x oversampling, it will use a lot of CPU, but that's a bit ridiculous. Even if you're just mixing at 44.1 KHz, that's 353 KHz internally, and if you're already at 96 KHz, that's 768 KHz, which is overkill even if you're making music for bats
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Good Pad synth.
Can get some very smooth and warm pads.

I feel the same. I really want to like it, I nearly took the plunge with PB's sale, but after demoing again, the interface is just, no, really no.egbert101 wrote: Sat Oct 13, 2018 12:28 pm I think the drones and pads sound stunning but I'm allergic to the interface, and shun away from it whenever I see it.

Diversion is one of my favourite synths but there's one problem I've noticed - with some of the glassy or bell-type arps and sequences, I can hear an intermittent glitch. I've tried removing or lessening them with transient shapers and SpectraLayers but those remedies only work halfway. I think this only happens with sine waves. I need to somehow smooth out the peaks.

I don’t know if it’s the same reason but on Thorn I was getting glitches and other strange behaviour. I unticked multi-core processing and it seems to fix it. Not sure if there’s a setting for diversion though.

I hadn’t noticed this, though I don’t often use plain sine waves. Do you have the oversampling up?Boy Wonder wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:43 pm Diversion is one of my favourite synths but there's one problem I've noticed - with some of the glassy or bell-type arps and sequences, I can hear an intermittent glitch.
