Maschine is definitely not a replacement for Battery.
here are the main difference between both :
Maschine sampler lack loop end automation, for me it is the most annoying things that really make battery mandatory, i guess how to roll drums without that automation.
Battery also gets stroke options, which are fun.
Battery has a enveloppe with attack curve.
Battery has visual enveloppes.
Battery can have multiple loops on one sample (maschine : one loop)
Battery have 7 samplers mode (maschine : 3)
Maschine gets better samples librairies, even if battery get more velocity layers.
Maschine time strech mode are better and usable on every audio materials.
Maschine has more fx and can host vst plugins.
Maschine has a sequencer.
Maschine has a dedicated hardware controler.
(i really like battery, i have used maschine for 8 years but finally sold it)

Plus another crazy sentence - you can always use synthesized sounds so forget samples!

Sure. Let's see how fast you can program a fade I/O on your synthesized sound vs. me doing it on a sample.dune_rave wrote: Mon Oct 15, 2018 12:31 pm Plus another crazy sentence - you can always use synthesized sounds so forget samples!![]()

Let's suppose I use three instances of zebra to make a midi drumloop. Then I simply use my daw volume envelope to create the fade I/ o. It's simple.Sascha Franck wrote: Mon Oct 15, 2018 12:39 pmSure. So what software Drums Sample Player must have to not suck in 2018?
I do drums in Battery in around 10 different genres and maybe I'm missing something important what can change my workflow diametrically?

If it was after me, a slicer and automatic cell mapper to go along with it. FXpansions Geist should be almost there, but for obvious reasons, I won't invest into their products any day soon.pixel85 wrote: Mon Oct 15, 2018 5:26 pm So what software Drums Sample Player must have to not suck in 2018?
I still remember the day when there was Phatmatik and you could slice in realtime and drag the samples straight to DR-008 (from one GUI to the other). That combination would still be extremely powerful these days. No idea why something like a combination of the two never took off.
(I started a thread ages ago, should possibly have a look for it and do the necro-bump thing...).

Oh right that thing I have in Groove Agent (Cubase native plugin - drag'n'drop from audio track) but I didnt sliced loops in plugin for ages (beside doing this on audio track)Sascha Franck wrote: Mon Oct 15, 2018 5:36 pmIf it was after me, a slicer and automatic cell mapper to go along with it. I can't really understand what the big deal is. Battery 4 does everything I need from a drum rack, plus several things I didn't even know I wanted. Being able to easily create multilayered kits, Kontakt style, is pretty epic. Some of the kits are a bit dated sounding, but most of them I find quite usable. Not to mention it's basically the best way I've found to organize my drum packs and actually use them.

i use the massive wavetable on battery, mainly to create layer.dune_rave wrote: Mon Oct 15, 2018 12:31 pm Plus another crazy sentence - you can always use synthesized sounds so forget samples!![]()
i also get good synthesized kick from serum or sylenth1, but there is nothing like a acoustic snare sample as a main snare layer

I use battery for live triggering. I'd say it's my favourite in that regard. You can shape drums really fast.
Stuck in Aperture Laboratories for a 2nd time!
