Indeed. So, we will have to wait a little moreFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 2:13 pm Says it's available, but it's not actually showing up in the Cloud Manager yet for download. At least, not here. The news item popped up, but not the actual download for the instrument.

The JX-3P was expected (already launched for the System-8). And they usually launch only one new thing each month.

Similar in the way that it uses same DCO design and same filter chip, but it has 2 DCOs, cross-modulation modes, and instead of analog LFO/envelopes it has digital ones. No PWM, though.

The code for the JX-3P already existed for the Boutiques, then they went and released it for the System-8 so there was no way that wasn't next. In terms of what comes after, I guess we're in wait and see mode now. There's still the TB-303 and the VP-330 which have boutiques but no Cloud counterparts yet. They could be next. Or maybe Roland will release a new batch of Boutiques for other classic synths then port those to the Cloud. Or maybe Roland will break with the hardware then software model and start putting out new synths for the Cloud first. I'm not holding my breath for the latter, at least, not yet.
Also, everyone has different Roland synths they want right? You want a JD800/990, I'd like to see them put out a Jupiter-6, or an Alpha-Juno, or maybe an MKS-80 over a JD, but anything they add would certainly be welcome.

Not at all. The Juno-106 only has one oscillator (and one sub-oscillator). The JX-3P has two oscillators, capable of cross-modulation (sync and RM). The Juno-106 has PWM, while the JX-3P has not (although we can use a trick to get a similar effect through osc sync, but that would be at the expense of one of the oscillators).sinemotor wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 2:24 pm I'm not too familiar with this synth. Is it really similar to a Juno 106 ?
Other than that, they both were very simple synths. The main difference resides in the oscillators, IMO.

Also, I hate to be "that guy" that uses terms like "warm," but having used these both in my System-8 pretty extensively (so not the originals, but the same code the Cloud versions are based off) I'd say that the JX-3P is quite a bit brighter and leans more towards the higher end of the spectrum versus the warmer sounding Juno. To my ear, the Juno sounds thick (even for one osc) but the JX-3P sounds considerably more refined and subdued for better or worse. They can be seen as complimentary.fmr wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 2:34 pmNot at all. The Juno-106 only has one oscillator (and one sub-oscillator). Do these have the same chorus? That might be another difference if so. The filters sound slightly different, but could just be gain-staged differently resulting in a slightly different sound.

I wouldn't mind to have all of the AM (except maybe the Alpha-Juno - I really think it adds nothing to what we already have). But now that we have the JX-3P, I would love to see the JX-10/MKS-70 next.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 2:33 pm Also, everyone has different Roland synths they want right? I just installed the JX-3P plugin and was a bit confused by the GUI as most controls were missing, especially for oscillators and envelopes. Pressing the "EDIT" button on the main GUI opens a repilca of the PG200 programmer at the right part of the GUI that offers most of the synth parameters.

If you mean the EDIT button it is at the left part of the main GUI right to the "CHORUS" button and the "Brilliance" fader.fmr wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 2:56 pmWTF... Doesn't the Alpha Juno allow for more complex envelope shapes than a basic 4-point ADSR? That's why I think it would be a good edition, unless I'm wrong on that front...fmr wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 2:44 pmI wouldn't mind to have all of the AM (except maybe the Alpha-Juno - I really think it adds nothing to what we already have).
