It sounds simular to the beat used by Paul Simon (I think on the Graceland album) but Simply Red's is definitely another beat. Paul Simon recorded it in Brasil somewhere in an alley. Chop that one up & compose yer own rhytmz.

If only I could remember the source of the sample, where Goodmen sampled it from... the original artist/band has loads of similar material, worth checking out.

Last time I googled it, I found everybody miscrediting it to a wrong source, hence it's kind of hard to recall the original artist.

This beat really got overused back then, hearing wankers like Simply Red and Rick Astley (Never gonna give you up, one of the remixes) ruining it... made me ears bleed =(

If you're bearsharing/soulseeking for it, get the whole album from The Goodmen - called Father in the bathroom. Excellent stuff with a limited setup, killer grooves and so on (and fun to spot presets from gear of that era too). I can also heartily recommend *anything* from Fresh Fruit, they have no bad releases (coincidentally, anything from the dudes DJ Zki & Dobre is great stuff).
