it could be true, as usual
but Windows 10 will stay the last version of windows..
desktop OS are a outdated technology, now it is cloud time, Apple vs Microsoft war is over, now it is Amazon (AWS) vs Microsoft (Azure).

This may be true for corparate computing, but for creative or general personal work, cloud computing doesn't make sense. Desktop computer are still the way to go, IMO.drdriller wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 1:29 pm desktop OS are a outdated technology, now it is cloud time, Apple vs Microsoft war is over, now it is Amazon (AWS) vs Microsoft (Azure).

Indeed. Half of the world's population still doesn't have internet access so cloud computing is useless.fmr wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 1:49 pmThis may be true for corparate computing, but for creative or general personal work, cloud computing doesn't make sense. personal cloud computing is already a reality, most services now come as a subscription, most of us already use splice and spotify, tomorrow daws will also be a cloud service like adobe suite and office apps today.fmr wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 1:49 pm This may be true for corparate computing, but for creative or general personal work, cloud computing doesn't make sense. Actually my windows 7 is pretty clean I think. If I update to 10 hopefully my settings and preferences won't change.
I have my user folder for the most part on a separate hard drive and my OS and applications on the C:.
In my experience it's easier to work out the bugs than to start from scratch.
It takes forever to reinstall everything and reorganize all my files and programs.
Worst case scenario if it doesn't work I'll do the clean install.
One thing I don't like about Windows 10 is that the services view, I believe, doesn't really show up the same way where you can see what's disabled and whatnot. It's in the task manager and is not very helpful at all.

ho no, trust me always install from scratch to get good performance without bug.In my experience it's easier to work out the bugs than to start from scratch.
you can still get the old services view, run "services.msc" from the run command bar (win + R)
(or open startup charm (win) type "services", press enter)

In Task Manager, your Services will show as what's currently running or stopped, and you can stop or restart most of them - it's quite useful, actually. For deeper control, all you have to do is right-click the service in question and select "Open Services", and you're presented with the old fashioned control menu that's available in 8 and 7.djmino02 wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 2:37 pm One thing I don't like about Windows 10 is that the services view, I believe, doesn't really show up the same way where you can see what's disabled and whatnot. That's because Microsoft decided to stop giving numbers to Windows. Yet, they already launched at least three new versions of Windows 10, that could have been numbered differently. I don't believe "tomorrow daws will also be a cloud service"... But we will seedrdriller wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 2:19 pm Windows 10 will be the last version of windows, it is an official announcement from Microsoft.

What about iCloud service ? Didn't see it on the graph above ..... I'm not an Apple fanboi either but friends and family I know always tell me there older iPhones run out of space and Apple constantly is selling the iCloud service , I also noticed this on OSX where they are trying to get you all integrated iOS to OSX , iPhone to iPad to iMac to MacBook ....where they trying to get you iCloud cross all your Apple stuff .... Don't know how much a month but if I was everything Apple I would probably purchase the subscription ... Thank God I'm Android and we've had bigger space on our phones ...

Type 'Privacy' in the Start menu and go to your Privacy Settings. Go to the 'Microphone' tab and then tick which things you want allow access to the mic.Zombie Queen wrote: Thu Sep 27, 2018 11:28 pmIt is about the security, it's what I've been saying. It's my son's machine and we both really don't have time to dig for solution so, it's like screw it, no microphone it is, it's not that important. But maybe it is digged in the driver, we'll see.

Yes, I'm using Office 365 too. You can store your documents wherever you want - in the Cloud or locally.drdriller wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 8:29 ami'm talking about office 365.I have MS Office, and although I can use the Cloud, I don't have to (and I don't use it).
