This is my first try of bitwig and have 2 qwestions:

To record midi or anything you have to press record and then play, that right? You cant just press one record button like Ableton?

To arm a track you have to disarm the previous one first unless you wanna record over it as well?

If both of the above are true then is there a work around to either or both? I dont particularly like the idea of disarming/arming and pressing 2 buttons every time I wanna record. Pretty poor workflow.

There are options in Settings/Recording page. You can choose "Start transport on record" to get record and play on one button.

You can also select auto-arm on instrument tracks and audio tracks to have arm automatically follow selected track. But if you're going to record multiple audio tracks at once, this option might not be suitable, since after you've armed multiple tracks, and then accidentally select one track, all the armed tracks are unarmed and only the one selected track is armed.

Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

The workflow of having to press both record & play is as old as the first tape recorder.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

I have another question. I notice only certain bitwig effects have the modulator option on the left. Is it possible to assign an lfo to any effect that doesn't, 3rd party or bitwig distortion for example?

Not sure what you mean, but Bitwig Distortion (and other 3rd-party plugins) does have the modulator option. Click on the arrow icon on the lower left corner of the device panel to show the modulators.
