Hi,

I am using Falcon as a vst plugin in Cubase 9.5.30.
I am on a iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017), 3,6 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4.
Mac OS Sierra.
Sometimes, it is random, but it is regular - when I choose another preset, the Menu bar starts flickering and the "beach ball" appears.
I have to click on the Falcon plugin window and then Cubase/Falcon are responsive again.
So far this hasn't happened with Falcon in stand alone mode.
Is this a bug?
Is this something on my system, a Cubase problem?
I have changed the buffer size from 256 to 512 in Cubase but that doesn't seem to help.

I tried UVI support, but that was a waste of time. For two weeks they had me jumping through hoops, they even suggested Windows workarounds while I clearly stated I was on Mac.
Now they want me to install UVI Workstation (!).

Do any of you experience the same thing, have any suggestions?
TIA
Hans

No, I so far I experienced a very good support, caring for bug reports and problems. And I like that they constantly are updating their plugins. Regarding your problem, some idea: Maybe your elicenser dongle starts to get faulty? Cubase protection is so ugly that it constantly access there, and if that does not work properly, it can lead it various issues, like freezing, crashing. My dongle was then defective (thankfully they replaced it without costs, after writing some mails with the support).

Try falcon in another common DAW, and see if the problems are the same there or not. Also you can open the activity monitor and see if there is some heavy uncommon background activity. You can also look for HDD access there.

Also could be an ilok issue or maybe a harddrive issue. Beach ball appears, if the process is blocked totally, like the hdd cannot be accessed at all.

Thanks!
These are good suggestions.
I'll investigate.

Have you tried a reinstall. Remove the app completely first, preferences and all. Then reinstall the whole thing including the base library.

Make sure you have always the latest versions installed - Cubase is at 9.5.40 currently and as mentioned previously UVI indeed releases updates and bugfixes quite frequently (good work there!). Also try reinstalling the elicenser Software as well as temporarily backup your Cubase configuration folder (move or rename it), then restart Cubase to check if the problem continues to exist.

Thanks for all the help people.
I tried Falcon in Reaper with no problems.
So I trashed the Cubase preferences and I have been playing with Falcon in Cubase this morning.
So far there have been no more problems.

Thanks again,
Hans
