BBB just by its name may be geared more to what you want to do. I grew up with Stan Kenton records and my father would crank it up, I wouldn't go for mellow particularly.

Well, I'm sure it is geared more towards what I want to do but then there's that price.jancivil wrote: Fri Oct 26, 2018 11:07 pm BBB just by its name may be geared more to what you want to do. I grew up with Stan Kenton records and my father would crank it up, I wouldn't go for mellow particularly.

I know. Bought VSL (Over $3,000) on Jan's say so. Don't regret it a bit. But VSL is also ALL over the Internet. This guy, not so much.vurt wrote: Fri Oct 26, 2018 11:33 pm obviously, i don't know these instruments personally, but if i was going to trust anyones judgement on such a thing it would be jans. knows her shit when it comes to this stuff.

Stan Kenton always had the best players and great charts...
Frank Rosolino,Bill Holman and so many other legends...
I've played a few of those charts and the're beautiful arrangements...
When the band gets those ones right,it's like floating on a cloud
No auto tune...

I actually prefer the "softer" albums from Stan's band...
"Portraits on Standards" and "Sketches on Standards" especially...
That lush lower brass...wow...like heaven !
As you have alluded to in your posts here,a lot of the deal with getting the sampled sounds to sit right is in the arrangement...
With the right arrangement,it all starts to make a little sense...
With most fine things,it all starts with the preparation
