Also, it would be useful if you told us how you plan to use it, because if it's just for triggering samples from Drum Rack for example, then indeed the difference might be negligible.

There's already quite a difference regrading the GUI from version 9 to 10, so... I'd figure there also is quite a difference between version 7 and 10, when it comes to features and user interface.

Not to mention the damned, separate automation mode in v10... :( :x

I'm actually still "afraid" of doing a more advanced project in v10, because I know I'll hit the wall eventually.

The advantage of Live7 is the lightness of the exe.
The weight and bugs came with Live8.
The main advantage of live9 or is max4live better integration
What i love from Live10 is the multiclip editor and a better integration with max4live than Live9.
Don't forget that some hardware will not be supported : push2 with live7 :-(

+ Tons of new content - devices, packs and sounds. Especially in Suite and Max4Live. Also version 9.5 brought a lot for free.
+ Lots of little tweaks and improvements - especially in Live 10, but not only.

Live 7 is ancient now. You can make some music with it for sure, but it's way behind of what's currently a state of art.

I have 8. It is at least versatile enough to do anything.
