Last year was 9.5 though. If I remember correctly the x.0 releases have usually been on early December.

Truly mind-boggling music! - New album out! - And a blog!

Thanks! Good to know! Was thinking of getting the latest 9.5.04 maintenance release update from 9.0 but I guess it would behoove me to wait at this point...

what is the grace period or is there one? I just bought Cubase 9.5 but haven't registered it.

It's usually 4 weeks.

Only once you have registered Cubase the grace period is limited. However as long as you didn't register the product, you can automatically upgrade to the most current version!
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Wow, that is great to know. So if I get the update now and just wait to register until the day they announce 10, I can get 10 instead of 9.5? Or do I have to wait til its available for purchase?

When they announce the next version, they usually state what is the grace period. Usually, the announcement date is already covered by the grace period, but you better be sure by reading their announcement carefully.

I'm hoping Cubase 10 comes out soon, be nice if they offer a sale discount on 9.5 before though..

And sorry to re-open the 'dongle wars' discussion, but I actually prefer a dongle to any other means of protection. Hassle free, and as long as the dongle itself keeps working, no need to manage C/R or activations online.

I had to reinstall windows 10 on another machine, and a piece of software on it requires me to contact support to request deactivation and then reactivation (the software is mathematica). A week later, I was still replying to emails saying I hadn't changed my hardware. TBH, if they let me use a dongle, then all would be so much easier.

They had update to 9.5 sale in July for cubase pro users and upgrade from other cubase products sale in August.

Getting the update now at normal price from 9 to 9.5, then getting 10 will most likely cost less than 9 to 10. Especially if you hold off activating until grace period and get 9 to 10 for cost of 9.5.

It's all speculation how and when the forthcoming deals will work, but that's how it has worked in previous years.

Ok thanks for the info. I wasn't sure how / when Steinberg did sales, I am looking to crossgrade Studio One Pro. They did have a good price on crossgrades earlier in the year, but I wasn't sure about changing to Cubase, so I missed the sale then.

Use a USB dongle, and you can already have that.
