So why doesn't it affect all hosts on Windows?SJ_Digriz wrote: Wed Nov 08, 2017 3:57 pmHey G,Guillermo Navarrete wrote:Hi,

Never been explained by Steinberg. They just commented that they would rather spend their time on something else than worry about those of us who complain twice per year. Oh well. I just wanted to start a topic, ha ha ha.
"the root cause is that FNFileSystem::getFileTimes() on Windows returns the time as local time and not as universal time.
And the issue was analyzed by our QA and the conclusion was: changing this had high risk.
So if you use FNFileSystem::getFileTimes() to cache something then you will have the same problem."
Basically that's it, it is not catastrophic, it happens twice a year and repairing it will take many valuable resources and it is risky (which means, repairing it might break something else).
Best regards,
GN
I think what people want to know is not why the time error as much as why it has anything to do with plugins.
Cubase and Daylights Savings again...

Because all other hosts know how to convert time stamps to UTC.

Ha ha ha. One week till death by Cubase.
To be clear. I am not anal about this. Ok I am.
But to be clear, I mean really, if I am in a creative mood this coming Sunday morning, as I usually am this time of year after a great night of... well to be really clear...I have a lot of plugins and it will shut down my ideas in the LONG time it takes to scan them all.
Actually, with the latest update, 9.5.40, Cubase seems to load faster than ever. So we will have to see.

Why can't you just sketch your ideas out on a small ukulele while Cubase loads? I have one just for this purpose.

I wondered what was going on when Cubase started scanning everything on Sunday. Glad it only happens twice a year!
It did make me realise that Sonar's ability to boot up and let the scan carry on in the background is a better way of loading a program.
Cubase and Reason can be quite long winded in getting past the VST scan stage even on a good day.
Grum.

I don't think it is only DST related though.
The last few weeks, I went from Jamaica which currently is on central time, to Florida on EST and then to California..
In California it rescanned all plugins at the first start up of Cubase....Back to Florida but didn't use it then, but then back to Jamaica, and it once again rescanned all of them again for every version of Cubase I have on my laptop and tried to use.
