How come KVR doesnt follow ardour updates? Just curious, it has some great features... Easily on par with protools/DP with a more modern feel.

Open source and whatnot.. supports VST blah blah

Post

I tested a version..... 4 years ago....
It was already 0.9. :-o

I just gave a look at Ardour Page. Paul Davis says himself he spent 4 years full time on this programm.
And still no midi editor. Really looks like the same it was 4 years ago.

Support VST through Jack ???
Everybody says its possible but is it usable ?

I'm today as disapointed by audio under Linux as i was excited 4 years ago. :(

I wrote a java wrapper for ladpsa :-o (end of the post... "BTW:..." )
It was more than 4 years ago... Audio under linux was very very promising... 1ms latency with a soundblaster 64/128.
Today at work with my readhat 8.0 i cannot switch windows without hearing crackles in xmms.....

this is simply false.

This is a really outrageous troll. 4 years ago Ardour was modelled on hardware recorders like the Alesis M20 ADAT recorder. At the start of 2001, we began to move toward a UI that much more clearly modelled on ProTools. There is hardly any aspect of the program that is left from the original version and most of it has been rewritten several times.

Its not easy to get it working, because of the need to have the correct version of both Wine and glibc installed. But I have 80+ plugins taken mostly from K-v-R and they work wonderfully. Plugins can be used internally within Ardour or as standalone JACK clients.

You can't get 1ms on any system, unless you are measuring the ASIO buffer size rather than the latency. And you can't use an SB64/128 for full duplex work unless an 8bit/16bit combination satisfies you.

If you're going to troll ardour, please at least try to make it accurate.

:-o

I've never known Ixox to be a troll, maybe misinformed, but I really don't think it was intentional.

As to your original question Robert, I think Ben has said that if nobody submits the news then it's not likely to get posted. I know that's the way it is with the plugin/host database.

Its crazy to make the claim Ardour 4 years ago is essentially the same as it is today and claim to have checked both versions. Just at the most basic level: there was no editor at all 4 years ago. Troll? Misinformed? It doesn't really matter, its just completely wrong. Ardour has been through a dramatic evolution over the last 2 years, and Ixox seems to be unaware of any of it. Most of the features you've seen announced in recent releases of Sonar, Cubase SX and ProTools (at least in the audio domain) have been in Ardour for quite a while. Per-region gain envelopes? Check. Track freeze? Check. Completely flexible bus architecture? Check. The list goes on.

How come Ardour isnt in the Host drop down menu? Sounds interesting anyways, I'll google it.

Hi Paul,

I don't know if you remember me (Juan), but I spoke you on the phone twice around four years ago to chat with you on Ardour . I knew then that your Application would be kicking ass. I been watching your work for sometime and I know by the various news groups you suscribe too that you are busy at work in helping establish Audio Standards within the Linux Environment in addition to your work on Ardour. All I can say is keep working at it Paul. I know that in time, Adour will be fully Realized but it's gonna take time.

Also Mr. Davis, welcome to the KVR Forum. :D

Peace,

- Juanito

It seems i've said wrong things....
Thanks glurgle... That was of course not intentional.
Sorry Paul... Didn't want to troll ardour at all. It seems i've upset you.

I've never said i tested the current version...(just saw the screenshots)
That is my biggest mistake... I should have done it before saying anything.
I apologize.

It was the occasion for you to show you're still working hard on ardour and you are ready to defend it (er... maybe a little too much sensitive...) So that was usefull.

You should add a "what's new" part on your site.

But maybe we can discuss a little before saying anything is "outrageous troll"....

Anway good luck with version 1.
