Akai MPC & psytrance questions

Hello! I posted this already at the hardware/setup thread. But realized it might be suited here as well..

Im building a set-up for live giging. And im looking into rythm-samplers. The question is; whats all the fuzz about the MPCs? Why do they sound better and more punchy then other rythm samplers, and secondly is it usable for twisted psychedelics?

There are also the yamaha su 700, and the new roland 8000 something..

Id love to get some pro-coments on this.
