Hey this sounds a bit like me your experiences though for me is the often crashing and projects nit loading. Dunno if studio one is better though. Cpu consumption seems not better.

I wait for black friday sale seems 50% off then. I dont like their business modell though too so im sceptical still. Heard they delete topics etc

Draw a range selection over anything, copy, place the cursor somewhere else, paste. It's really that simple.

I guess The intrancer's explanation was the reason for the confusion. AFAIK there are no automation containers or clips in Studio One. Just lines.

You can put MIDI (not audio) automation in clips if you want, all by themselves. They just need to be on a separate track. Folder up that stuff and create all of the "Midi automation clips" you want.

but can you copy and alter 1 clip for example without altering the other copies?

Yes. Unless you make them shared copies then they'd all change together.

Highlight the automation I want to copy, click in the numbered lane at the top of the tracks to place the vertical white line where I want the automation to be, click in the automation lane, and paste. Bit more fiddly than I'd like but it works. Finally. Normal service can resume.

Wish there was a built-in limiter with Prime.

This might help...

Double click the left mouse button, on the track ;)...probably one of the most important aspects of functionality in Studio One.

This more of a random playing around video but it should highlight some things to be aware of and how to do. What you might be doing wrong is tying to create clips on the automation lane. This will only work if there is a link between the instrument and the automation.

In the first video I showed, automation has been created directly from the instrument.

This video highlights automation which has been created on a separate track and how the separate automation track is linked to allow for the event (clip or container as I put it before) to be created on the automation lane. Look carefully at the labels in what they say. I also introduce a second instrument to show another way to create an automation track..besides some other things.

No offense intended but (in those two videos) that's an inefficient and somewhat clumsy approach to exposing automation in Studio One.

Another video showing how to select multiple parameters of an instrument for automation, rather than with the slower fiddly way of manually selecting and dragging knobs, buttons, values ect individually, which is fine if it's just a few of them. An alternate method as shown below is much more like a batch process however, like of which that you can perform with scripts in Photoshop, that allows you to dig deeper into VST effects and instruments, giving you access to things which are not readably accessible from the front of the GUI.

UHE's Hive have does have it's own modulation and remote assignable control system, however you can take a different approach in using Studio One's automation drawing features also. In this video, I show how you can set up all the automation parameters of Hive's gate sequencer, in about 5 seconds... and see where other control aspects can be found.
