Synfire's AI requires midi files for its phrases. Any recommendations? Need to be royalty-free. I'd guess midi based on written pre-20th century music is public domain. What about more recent styles? I've found plenty of midi loops for sale in sample packs but the vast majority of them aren't just midi and don't give me the option to only buy the midi. I guess the license for royalty-free samples that I've bought extends to altering them by converting them into midi to play other instruments?
What about accurate midi representations of virtuoso humans playing stringed instruments, to the extent that's possible with midi?...
Best sources for midi files for use with AI (Synfire)?

Imho it is questionable whether short phrases can be copyrighted.

On Loopmasters I've only found a few companies that frequently let you buy just the midi for a significantly less---mainly Singomakers, Hyr2ogen, Keep It Sample. Singomakers seems like it may be good for updating the AI with the most recent stylistic developments.
