Ambient Artists?

Having been a big fan of the ambient stuff in modern film score for ages, I figured I'd look into the ambient genre a little further. Wow, this is some really special stuff! Just been having a listen to Eno's 'Textures' album, and fook me this stuff is awesome. It sounds like music Iv been making for a while now, yet i never knew this guy was at the centre of it all.
So, I know there are some great ambient artists knocking around these parts - anyone recommend any decent albums, or even discuss some secret ambient kung fu moves? Any strange instruments you've gotten unexpected results from? Howabout sound design techniques or processing?

Look into these artists:
Vir Unis
James Johnson
Robert Rich
Pete Namlook
Steve Roach
If you want to experiment with some more 'psychedelic' ambient:
Shpongle
ISHQ
Solar Fields
Aes Dana
H.U.V.A. Network
____
Sound design tips? Use lots of reverb, and don't rush the point!
Good instruments? Anything, literally.

I became tuned in on the network of neurological signals and cellular wisdoms that radiate hundreds and millions per second.

Good ambient albums:
Well, Eno as you've mentioned. My two favorites are "Apollo" and "Music for Films". "Apollo" is just plain spooky at times and overall is evocative & never boring. Oh, also check out his "The Shutov Assembly". It has a creepy vibe going which is great for weirding yourself out when you're up late alone & reading on Saturday night.
Bola's "Soup" album is kind of ambient/techno. It's probably a little more rhythm-based that true ambient but has a number of slowly-building songs which are beautiful.
Anything by Patrick O'Hearn. Esp. good IMO are "Indigo" and "Trust". God, that brings back memories... Yes, definitely "Indigo", it's flipping brilliant.
