Addressing a few things working backwards:
-Now the system is working and the AI knows what drums sound like, it can easily disregard longer audio just like a human would.
-Yes! We have a concept for learning and flagging what sounds the users prefer or dislike.
-The X/Y thing that your talking about comes for free. Samples are analysed by several dimensions of character and grouped accordingly. ie. in one corner is a bunch of big 909 hats, another corner are tinny acoustic ones, and you'll find ones that are somewhere in the middle....somewhere in the middle. This applies to genre as well. House kicks here, hip hop kicks there, a merger in the middle.
-Similar sounds. Its very possible, and were considering it. A user could load a sample into atlas, and it would take you to a group of samples that sound similar.
- Lastly, it works with enormous libraries as well. It ends up becoming like a zoomable fractal map! For beta we are just locking in a small subset of samples.

I put a new video up on the Algonaut youtube channel that shows a bit more the 'feel' of changing sounds using Atlas.

In a few days were going to show the 'Auto' Drum kit. Brace yourselves....

Okay. Behold the worlds first AI drumkit generator!

Interesting ideas.

I'm sure they'll be useful for someone.

Hi Tim,

I just watched the demo on youtube (Atlas overview with Ryan Enzed | Algonaut) and d/l it running on Cubase 9.5 (Win10).

As a Vengeance Phalanx users, I'd like to know more about the edges of Atlas. I first let Atlas analysis my drum sample folders which were pretty well organized with meaningful name (e.g VEE snares, VEE claps, VEE bassdrums etc..). But how about if I have mixed all kind of drum samples into one folder with meaningless name like sample001, sample002 ? How Atlas knows which are kicks and snares ? The waveform shape ?

To me, Atlas is changing the way I choose samples rather than scrolling up/down to choose samples within folders (like Phalanx and Maschine). But sometimes, by looking at the sample names under some certain folder, it will also save my time to choose rather than clicking within the "island" circle. Say I click to folder Trance\kick and I will see my fav Trance kick. Please share your thoughts and the AI concept behind.

Regards!
Cowby

Yes! Atlas analyzes samples based on audio, not the file name. So it wouldn't matter what you named them. Many samples are mis-labelled (or not at all). It takes a little bit more time to analyze of course, but the results are FAR more useful. Atlas is definitely more fun and inspiring than the other sample organizers out there, partly as well because it's also a dedicated beat sampler.
