Presonus Studio One Pro 4

Are they going to have some deals? I was checking, and it seems there are no deals (at least for upgrades).

I am looking to upgrade from S1 3.5 to V4 so am looking for a deal.
Best so far is Now £65.00 at which is about $88. Hoping for $75 or less. Is this hopeless?

I went there, and they want to dispatch a package? WTF? I just need a new serial, or update my own (whatever works). Price is good, though. I would purchase, if they just issued me the serial. I left a mesage. Let's see what will be their answer.

Inta-Audio and the staff are great, I remember I use to talk to them for quite a while on the phone about music software in general and find out about their thoughts and usage of the music programs they used and didn't use themselves, before ordering my Reason upgrade from them...which typically came in a box delivered by the postman.

£65 is almost half the price, of the normal upgrade price here in the UK....I don't think that will be bettered.

I had a hunt around many other UK music software/hardware retailers earlier and they either don't stock Studio One, or are still selling at the normal prices.

Using both, Studio One and Cubase, until recently I clearly prefered Studio One. But this has changed since Studio One is not supportive of the latest midi keyboard Integration frameworks. All major midi keyboards are offering deeper midi integration (Akai, NI, Arturia, Novation). For me Komplete Kontrol MK2 in combination with NKS is a game changer in how I can work with supported virtual instruments, e.g. Repro 1/5, V Collection, the whole NI stuff and many others. It is so much more convenient in comparison to manual Midi Learn, it even comes close to Spectrasonic hardware integration. Especially since DAW control also is tightly integrated. Unfortunately not in Studio One 4 Pro. I dont know whether Presonus is to blame or the keyboard vendors. But what I know is that Presonus seems reluctant to do anything about this, going so far as to delete respective postings in their forums. Too bad, as S1 is a fab DAW. But in this respect they clearly are lagging behind!

Given that Presonus is a big company developing music studio hardware and has been for many years now. It does have the money and development resources for them to bring out their own keyboards and introduce / integrate existing and new protocols for their existing line of products..... actually that's giving me ideas... ...but in any case... my point is, why bother pandering to others when they can develop something better..

You can communicate with Presonus and their employees outside the forum, email isn't dead yet and you have the various social networks such as FB, to communicate your ideas to them directly. As for that forum...actually I'll stop there...

Yeah, politics. Not good for users, though. I guess Presonus wants to sell their Faderport. But midi keyboards we haven’t seen from them yet and I hope they don‘t go down this route. I am a big fan of best of breed, i.e. getting the best from different companies that specialise in certain areas. The thing that is a pitty is that the initial approach the Studio One makers took - midi map whatever you want - was good and innovative at the time. But again: this has changed with the much deeper wrapper-based integration that we now see with prime midi keyboards. Studio One should embrace and drive this trend.

but to answer your question. No, you won't be sent a DVD (Presonus does have a more expensive boxed version I believe, but even that doesn't apply to upgrades I don't think..but I've not checked, not that it matters in this case).....,

You will be sent the code you require to register the upgrade of Studio One Pro (or whatever version you have) on the Presonus website. But you'll obviously need to create an account, to be sent the serial code for the version of Studio One you have so you can register the upgrade at Presonus. That's how it worked with the sweetwater upgrade I did of Studio One from 2.6 to 3.0. The delivery stuff on Inta-audio, is there for all their products, so it's been made clearer with the red text and capitalisation for this product.

I noticed I made a slight error in saying you needed your serial for Inta-Audio also, but it's not required as it happens..., probably thinking of the serial hardware registration process to get additional software products like I've done with Focusright ... Although saying that, it would act as a safety guard to stop you buying the wrong upgrade package if that was the case..in serial numbers not being valid to use and obviously setting up an account applies to both the vendor and product developer.

But anyway, you can keep both Studio One 3 & 4 installed if you want, they are different programs but you'll probably find, you'll be accessing the same paths for plugins and other content.
I'd recommend it as if you encounter any big issues, you can always go back till they are fixed. Just be aware, to not overwrite any songs you want to keep which have been created in earlier versions, because you can't change them back once saved, as you'll probably know.

As for what deals transpire, one can wait and make the price comparison.
