Realistically, that's only how to make a "potential hit pop song". You then need someone to dump a lot of cash into marketing. "Hits" and "Fame" are straight up paid for by labels in most cases.

Only 3 things are important if you are poor not very talented artist and want to release hit song:
1.Steal ideas from old proven likeable songs.People accept familiar things easily
2.Don't work too hard on it - it will become too complex for listening,so keep it simple
3.Distinguish melody,lyric and sound people will remember
