You mean this thread I guess.

So I tried to emulate it in Sylenth1, and it seems possible
At the end the minimoog is just a simple 3 osc subtractive synth. Of course it's possible to recreate many patches on other synths.

Post

Yes, that thread :)

Sure, the Minimoog is not the most complex synth, but still, some people on KVR keep saying that only Monark and maybe Legend can make certain Minimoog patches due to its particular envelope and resonance behavior.

Post

For many things it's the envelope style and resonance behavior.

The sound you copied isn't specially a typical moogy sound.

This one for example is really more typical.

like any nice instrument, it’s well built. you won’t do anything new with any classic. it’s a quality instrument. if it sounds good, works well, and you can play it, what’s the problem? you should be buying things because you have an appreciation for them, at least we used to.

plus all the young people who grew up checking out edm on youtube were told it would make them popular.

That's probably much easier to recreate...
What are the key parameters and modulations for that sound?

It is surprisingly versatile.
Rhodes for the poor :D

Unfortunately, the nice bright bell attack is missing below and above certain notes, i.e. there is only a two-octave sweet spot 8) I wonder why that is...

In simplest of terms..sound quality, and the way it sits in a mix. It is still a powerhouse that covers huge ranges of VA sounds. Personally the sound quality is as good as anything that has come out the last few years and in fact often better, synthesis is never blurry sounding with Sylenth1.

Very happy user here, it never gets old.

It is a rare synth that endures like Sylenth1. It hangs with NI MASSIVE and the Virus.

Programmed a new, more digital synth bass today, S1 really is surprisingly versatile :)

Sounds really good. :tu:

Accidentally stumbled upon a trick to make it sound that way :hihi:

There is a Diva brass pad I like, HS Big Old Prolly.
Funny how close one can get with S1 while the CPU load is just about 1/6th:

But I had to pick S1's 24db filter because its 12db filter sounds much brighter and "fluffier" (the perfect German adjective would be pelziger) than Diva's 12db filter. I guess that is one of the reasons why S1's sound often considered less analog, it sounds too bright and fluffy.

Has anyone posted search results in the Instrument forum?

Quite a few hits indeed... but maybe half as much as what other popular synths get (can't really compare to Massive though as it's also a common adjective)

Another reason not to trust KVR as a popular meter.
