there are a few things missing from bitwig for me incl. no rex/rewire support. not a big deal but for me it is a sticking point.
i have found that the best all rounder for me is presonus studio.
i was a big fan of Acid several years back because it was uncluttered, most things were never far away in terms of clicks and navigating. and i find that studio one has a similar fell. it's a quick workflow and most things are easily accessible. i am terrible sufferer of GAS but i must get down to actually making music instead of being such a software whore. i find i 'm more productive with studio one.
mind you, i like reaper a lot these days as well : )

No it`s not... and I have both too
Studio One`s arranger track alone is a timesaver, not to speak from integrated melodyne, groove quantizations, macros which combines several processes into one keystroke, better bounce in place possibilties, the chord track... and ... and ...and

Bitwig is it´s own beast, but in terms of arranging stuff Bitwig and Ableton are not able to do even the half of what are linear DAWs are capable of... but that´s logical... it´s their domain, where Bitwig and Ableton shine more in their domain...
Yeah, S1 is more advanced with its arrangement tools. Same with Cubase and Logic. However there is something really straightforward and enjoyable about the core workflow of Bitwig. Basic stuff like routing, popup browser, building device chains, device macros and remote controls, saving, tagging and recalling presets, layering synths, etc. And of course none of them have anything like the Bitwig modulation system which I find indispensable. Bitwig keeps adding stuff that becomes "I don't want to be without that" stuff.

That is why I think it makes a good compliment to a DAW like Studio One. Logic is my second DAW. If Presonus ever adds MPE support, I would then seriously consider S1 instead of Logic, which has its own flaws. If I were somehow forced to have only 1 DAW, it would be Bitwig. But fortunately, that is a what-if scenario that will never happen :)

It is difficult to separate the host from what hardware you have or planning to have. In my case I have currently nektar P4 which I'm planning to sell and buy Push 2 or Maschine mk3. I also use mainly now Korg microKey and nanoKontrol2 with my PC keyboard and mouse as I like this light (and healthy to my back!) setup!.

Nektar P4 has the worst integration every with S1! Even with Ableton Live the sliders work as Mackie controller for the mixer while the right side knobs are assignable. With S1, nothing! No integration at all except as a midi keyboard. I searched for Push 2 with Studio one, and it is a no-go. I still don't know how to midi loop recording with overdub (my own thread is being ignored I guess :hihi: ), while the nanoKontrol 2 is working fine as a mixer control. So, my conclusion for S1 is that it can be great with my simple setup but with bad integration with what I have or planning to have as I don't think it will work fine with Push2.

Bitwig has a prefect integration with nektar P4, but strangely sometimes the driver of P4 crashes from time to time randomly. I can't report that because I have version 2.3.5 which is not the latest, so there is no point to report.
Korg nanoKontrol2 works great (either as nanoKontrol2 or as Mackie controller), but very strange that when I exit Bitwig, the nanoKontrol got stuck! So, when I start either S1 or Live, it doesn't work unless I unplug/plug the USB cable. However, using nektar P4 + PC keys and mouse is a great workflow. The loop recording is great and drums machines are much better than Impact XT in S1 IMO. Many said that Push 2 would work fine with Bitwig, so I expect a good integration.

Ableton Live works OK with nektar P4 but can't use the main sections. It is fixed parts, the sliders with mixer and knobs with devices (need to be midi learn). NanoKontrol2 works great as Mackie controller. Recording and workflow are the best for me here.

Overall, Ableton Live is still my favourite among the three, while Bitwig comes second and Studio one comes last. Anyway, still there are some strong points specific to each DAW depends on usage, for example, S1 is so great when deciding what midi files to use as patterns for Battery (still my favourite beat maker) or Addictive Drums (my fav acoustic drums). I also downloaded all the mappings from the Exchange server so showing the beats according to the maps is second to none :)

That ended me to start a project on each DAW :( I don't know how messy will be in the future, but I don't have plan to get rid of any of them as I like all the three :)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

With something like Reaktor for instance...
No need to have that into the host integrated as long as you can load something, which does this for you...
Bitwig has really nice features at host level but on the other hand, there is nothing, which is groundbreaking new... everything it does with it´s modulation system, does exist in many plugins too...

Have to quote myself... 8)
Nevertheless I have to admit, that working in Bitwig is definetely more fun and more inspiring for me...

I like S1´s feature set much better but I tend to stick with Bitwig than settling on S1

Have you tried clicking the 'gear' icon to the right of right loop locator time-stamp in the transport bar and selecting 'Record Mix' in the Instrument Loop Record section?

Yes it is Record Mix in the record panel.
Oh man! It is more buggy than I thought! It is a mess when loop recording! I tried also with Impact XT as I thought maybe .... No! the same! The problem it is random and some sounds I can't hear even after closing recording and just play the clip!
