What is it about Sylenth1 ?

Any time we talk about a synth that's been around for a dozen years it must have some appeal or it would have faded into history.

Factor in Sylenth 1's range of sound has remained virtually untouched in those years and there must be something about the quality of the sound that people find appealing.

It's fading into history as we speak.

It has a very good supersaw implementation, and at the time, the Virus was God so Sylenth became super popular as a cheap alternative. Especially so since it was easy to download the cracked version along with all the commercial soundbanks so everyone was using it.

It has long since been passed by, both in sound quality, character and range of sounds. And yeah, it has been fading into history for a few years now and it wont be long before it is just an historical footnote.

It's probably a mixture between that, and the fact that people are always looking for one specific cult device. You know, the one synth to rule them all.

I just meant popularity and the amount of features. Anyway some would argue the Minimoog is a dated analog synth. Not me of course, as I always dreamed of owning a Mini. Maybe one day I will.

You seem to have something against Sylenth1 for some reason. In every thread on it you keep posting that it is lifeless, dated, digital and what not.

Nor do I share that view. Sure, it may not be AS xyz AS the Minimoog, but then again, the Minimoog did not even have a velocity sensitive keyboard if I am not mistaken. I personally would not want any synth without it. I can also live without the "dirt", to the contrary I want a clean sound I don't have to tame with effects.

No, I don't get paid to endorse S1. It is not perfect and there is room for improvement, but still, I like it a lot and haven't found anything yet to replace it.
Some people keep badmouthing it, so I keep defending it. It's quite simple...

Its reverb is better, and its modulation options are more plentiful, including PW if I remember correctly.
Other than that it is a matter of taste in my view. The futuristic GUI for instance doesn't appeal to me at all.

I don't think that Sylenth1 is fading away as some 'wishful' opinions believe

There is still a strong demand on it as I noticed in the 2nd hand market here in KVR. The bid on 3 licenses with more than $100 in the charity auction from early days was also noticeable if you take the number of bidders and the amount of synths on offer.

Anyway, for me, it's better than Hive, which was motivated for development by the success of Sylenth1
I liked Hive but when it came between it and Sylenth1, I chose Sylenth1 because I like it more.

What's not to like? It sounds great and easy to use. Very CPU efficient and very stable. It has a wonderful GUI design in spite of the annoying two pages. Limited but so what? I have other synths for other sounds that Sylenth1 can't produce (neither Hive ).

So my conclusion still since I have it (few years ago) is the same. A great synth but can't be the only synth I have.

I don't understand the "either with me or against me" attitude. It's not a war! Also, if I like Sylenth1, this doesn't make me a hater for u-he synths! Or vice versa!
