Tell me why I do or don't need the upgrade from Studio One 3 to v 4

Title says it all I guess.
The upgrade is on sale at SW for $74.98 for black Friday. I haven't seen it cheaper elsewhere, let me know if you have. In any case, this would be the time to do it if I want to.
Thanks.

does it add anything you feel might be useful to you?

Reasonable question, and it's kind of what I'm asking everyone... What are the version-4-specific features that have really changed your workflow, or inspired you?
I've listened to some overviews of the upgrade, and nothing is jumping out at me as something I just have to have.

Well, I felt no immediate need to upgrade from Studio One v3 to v4, but my reasoning was to stay current and continue to get additional new features, enhancements and bug fixes for the next few years (at least until v5 arrives......2020, 2021?). For me the reduced upgrade fee ($74.50) was worth the investment. BTW, you can get the V4 upgrade from jrrshop for $63.32 using the "group" discount code at checkout. That is almost 60% off the normal upgrade fee ($149). Well worth keeping SO4 current for the foreseeable future, I think.

Because it's cheap and because PreSonus needs that money.
I'm in the exact position as the OP: didn't yet find a real reason to upgrade.
But in the next 15 minutes I will anyway.

Thanks for the reminder about GROUP
OT: anybody got a similar move for the Superior Drummer 3 upgrade from v2?
This is the first year I remember having such upgrade "obligations" for BF. There are other things I'm more interested in, but some of this housekeeping seems like a good plan, esp since the SD upgrade goes away soon they say. Part of me dislikes that pressure enough not to do it, but I have a lot invested in SDXs already, and any newer ones I might want in the future require it.

At least they are offering a deal on upgrades, that's more than a lot of companies will do. Which seriously,
makes me loathe to upgrade those products. I had to wait, but am pretty happy with S14 actually.

I paid more when v4 came out and didn't hesitate a minute. Presonus earned my respect and gratitude for what they offer in their free updates.
resistance is futile. Check my latest mix: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=532758

In a nutshell ? Introducing new interesting ways to create music which didn't exist previously, whilst fixing some important things and a large amount of many others I wouldn't have known about, for a price I couldn't say no to (£128 v £51). Three years and 5 months with version 3 and 6 months before that with version 2.6.. is quite a long time between paid upgrades in my case. Eighteen months between now and version 5.0, or an addition 5 months till BF of Nov 2020... (23 months in effect), is pretty good I think.

performance and stability feels better (I paused in the middle of v3).
A hefty quirk I believe to have found is an issue with initializing some plugins
and a robust method is required to have them to show up (PC).
SD3 on the other hand is night and day to SD2 on every aspect.
If you have a good use of SD you`ll enjoy the upgrade.
