Hi,

Is it better to get a dedicated amp sim or are the built in effects enough for a realistic sound?

It's better to get a dedicated ampsim IMHO.

Yeah. Particularly with that one, you probably want an effect that included amp ain't got.

You know what goes well IME with that is Softube Metal Amp Room.

All good sounding ampsims go well with it. Kazrog, Kuassa, Mercuriall, Fortin Nameless, LePou, TSE, Ignite Amps...

Kuassa Caliburn is a good Marshall sim.

Metal Amp Room is *metal* personified, is why I went specific. Use it with a 'regular' sort of sim.

Yep, Caliburn is plain awesome.

I would say that Metal Amp Room is starting to show its age. There are much better metal ampsims out there now.

Shreddage 3 features much-improved built in amps, pedals, FX, and cabs with the modular Console feature. Of course, a 3rd party amp sim will still give you even more options.
