Playing a guitar into a DAW.

I play guitar into Cubase 10 (and Reason 10 which has similar issues). I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 audio interface and plug into the first front socket.
If a DAW isn't loaded the guitar plays through the left monitor (as you would expect).
When playing into a mono to stereo audio track in Cubase with an amp sim loaded (say Waves GTR mono to stereo amp sim) I can still hear the unaffected guitar through the left monitor. The amp sim'ed guitar plays through both speakers, but not in stereo.
I've always managed to get any recorded parts to play in stereo by messing around afterwards but it would be nice to hear stuff as it should sound at the beginning.
The main bugbear is the left speaker thing - it does my head in, and makes using my Line 6 modelling guitar a pain as there can be all sorts of tunings happening at the same time!
Is there something I can do so I only hear the sim'ed guitar sound when playing live into my DAWs?
Grum.

I don't have a Focusrite (or cubase..), but from what you're describing sounds like you need to turn off the direct monitoring when you're recording through effects etc. Should be in the manual somewhere.Grumbleweed wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 9:19 pm I play guitar into Cubase 10 (and Reason 10 which has similar issues). Know what you mean about the Variax tunings, very distracting if you can hear the actual guitar, and what's coming out of the amp/speakers is completely different! Good fun though the tunings.

I'm pretty sure I have my monitoring set up in the Focusrite software to DAW1 and DAW2 as shown in the link.donkey tugger wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 9:30 pm Ere you go...https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/ ... -not-open-

I sorted it out by resetting the Focusrite software interface and going back to DAW 1and DAW 2 and it works ok. I also found using a stereo to stereo audio track works ok (but I've had problems with that in the past).Grumbleweed wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 9:36 pmI'm pretty sure I have my monitoring set up in the Focusrite software to DAW 1 and DAW 2 as shown in the link.donkey tugger wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 9:30 pm Ere you go...https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/ ... -not-open-
