Do 32bit vsts's no longer work on 64bit hosts?

I'm out of the loop in music making for a number of years.
I am running windows 10 64bit with 64bit ableton live.
I found my classic vst's I liked and some aren't appearing, such as:
drumatic, polyblit, iblit.
Is there a reason for this? Anyone else familiar with these vst's?
Thanks.

Some 64-bit hosts have a bit-bridge to load 32-bit plugins but Live isn't one of them. There's a 32-bit version of Live 9 but Live 10 is only available as 64-bit.
Another option is a third-party bit-bridge like jBridge, 32 Lives or Bridgewize.

Very few 64-bit DAWs will work with 32-bit plug ins. Sprnva listed some bridges... which allow 32-bit plug ins to run in 64-bit hosts... another option I'm getting promising results with is NetVSTHost, which among many other interesting things lets you route 32-bit data to a 64-bit host over Ethernet, and is free. Also lets you use Windows or Mac-only plug ins no matter what your host is. You might check that one out.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Bitwig can load 32-bit as 64-bit host with the additional benefit that crashing plugs don‘t crash Bitwig...

Since you have been away, Cakewalk Sonar went bankrupt.maudioradium wrote: Tue Nov 27, 2018 1:22 am I'm out of the loop in music making for a number of years.

The good news is that it can now be downloaded for free, and although it is 64 bit it has built in bridging for 32bit VST's, and it works brilliantly well. On top of that it is a great DAW. You just need the app to download it..........

Ableton Live doesnt have a bit-bridge, which is the code that allows 32-bit plugins to run in a 64-bit host (or vice versa).maudioradium wrote: Tue Nov 27, 2018 1:22 am I'm out of the loop in music making for a number of years.

The solution is a separate bitbridge, eg jbridge, or a 'subhost' (a plugin that can load plugins) which does bitbridging eg DDMF metaplugin.

Telling someone to change host entirely isnt exactly the optimal solution...

Unfortunately the latest builds of Bitwig have become very buggy with 32 bit plugins, it used to work great but now many that used to run fine (eg Hypersonic) won't even load and those that do have the bottom few pixels cut off their GUI.Tj Shredder wrote: Tue Nov 27, 2018 2:56 pm Bitwig can load 32-bit as 64-bit host with the additional benefit that crashing plugs don‘t crash Bitwig...

Ironically the only host I have now that loads 32 bit plugins reliably is Reaper (apart from Audiomulch which is still 32 bit only)VariKusBrainZ wrote: Wed Nov 28, 2018 7:11 amUnless it's a Reaper fanboiwhyterabbyt wrote: Tue Nov 27, 2018 4:57 pm Telling someone to change host entirely isnt exactly the optimal solution...
On Mac the various wrapper solutions are either too buggy or expensive

If you like Reaper or Cakewalk you are good to go with their built-in bit bridging. There may be others that I am unaware of. But otherwise you will most likely need a paid solution like jBridge, etc.
A caution with using older plugins is that many of them are no longer supported or updated for modern DAWs by their developers, so you may encounter issues with scanning them or crashes when using them. YMMV. I have a few old favorites, but for the most part they all of them come in 64-bit now, with a few exceptions.
I even had one situation where an old favorite 3rd party plugin (64-bit) was consistently crashing a current major DAW, but the DAW tech support refused to open a support ticket because the plugin was no longer under active development.
It is what it is. Just be aware of the possible limitations and issues.

Interesting. I have never heard of NetVSTHost before. Thanks for recommendingWatchful wrote: Tue Nov 27, 2018 2:51 am Very few 64-bit DAWs will work with 32-bit plug ins.
