Finally got it

One thing I noticed is any zoomed-in matrix doesn't show the horizontal and vertical white lines to better see the position. I was much easier before to operate the pins.
Any chance to have that feature back? Optional maybe?

I'll report that to Xils. Well with the zoom it's much easier, but lines would certainly be a plus.

Here's a picture of the one window New Preset Manager.


Basically, the 'CURRENT PRESET' area is where you perform 'SAVE' and 'SAVE AS' functions. You can also change the tags, and even create new ones, while performing these operations.

The 'PRESET BROWSER' area let you browse/load presets with a multiselection/multicriteria search functions.(i.e find the right preset in seconds)

You can also tag presets, or multiselections of presets. Make favorites, tag hidden presets (the ones you know you'll never use). Export selection, or MultiSelection of presets, or banks. Create your own tags etc.

Import, show only favorites, show/hide hidden buttons are hopefully self-explanatory. Ime it's a very powerfull tool.

Can it move multiple presets in one go now so we can organise banks better? For me that was always why the old browser ended up so cluttered up with multiple versions of the same preset.

Yes. The main idea (for me) was indeed to be able to select several items simultaneously. It was impossible with the previous system, and I asked it to Xils since a few years and proposed them many versions and solutions. The -potential- endless lists were also a problem as I saw it, even for people handling well the hierarchic seraching menus, so an alternative one window preset manager.

So what you ask happen in the 'PRESET BROWSER' section of the window. You can select multiple criterias/tags in any column, and select any number of presets in the list. Right click onn a selection/multiselection will bring you the export function.

For what you want, the only thing that is possibly difficult to understand is that 'banks' are altogether seen both as a -symbolic- container and a tag, similar to any other tag in the system (In other terms 'bank name' is just an attribute of a preset, like it's category -keys,/bass- or it's genre 'EDM/Disko/Lounge).

Well, in short to move a bunch of presets from one bank to another : Preset Manager in 'Browser mode'. Set criterias to get an appropriate list of presets (including 'bank' criteria, that can be used as the only active criteria) .Just select presets in the list/Select the BANK destination/use 'Save tag' function.

You can also Favorite presets, and use the favorite filter to see only Favorites. And hide unwanted presets, and choose the Hide preset filter to hide -or see again- those presets.

Before the signal chain was fixed. You now have a lot of possibilities : Chorus then Reverb (new effect added), or Chorused Reverb. Or Chorus + Delay on synth Left, and Phaser + Reverb on synth Right. Etc.

not quite sure what all this ilok licensing stuff means for buying this. i want to buy this but want to put it on another computer, not the computer i will buy it on. is it possible to do that? if you buy it are you immediately locked down to the computer you bought it on? also whats this usb elicenser thing? cheers guys help a noob out thanks much love good night

In my case I bought it (ilok version), then installed it, then authorized it with software iLok license manager. Three separate steps.

So I guess I could have theorethically bought it even with a smartphone, then installed it and authorized it on any PC using the serial code available in the Xils personal area.


USB-eLicenser (or physical iLok) means your licenses stay on a dedicated USB-drive instead of the PC hard drive.
This means the the licenses can be moved more easily from one machine to another, but the USB drive must stay connected at all times in order to use the software.

There are 3 sizes. And you can use the two panel and 3 panels views. On my desktop I use the 3 panel views. On the laptops I use the 2 panel views. I found a suitable size for every computer I used it on.

1/ Soft Ilok (no dongle) : Not tied to the PC used to buy it, but to the PC on wich you install it (once you have purchased the synth, you just have to DL the latest installer, then install the synth on whatever computer you want, then simply authorize it) . Moreover, You can install it on two different PC with soft Ilok.

2/ Dongle Ilok or eLicencer : This is what I use (eLicencer as I also use Cubase as my main host) In this case you can install the Xils 4 on as many computers as you want, but you can only use it on one computer at a time (the one to wich the dongle is attached at this moment)

Not that I'm aware of.

I know about the different sizes; I have had 3.2LE, and the 4 demo, installed for years. I stopped using them long ago though because they are too small on my eyes, just like Arturia synths used to be.

Fortunately I have the iVCS3 on my iPad Pro which is simply a joy to use in comparison.

Arturia had to slightly compromise their skeumorphic interfaces when they went to resizeable but it has been such a massive improvement that I have heard no complaints.

I think XILS will find they are forced to reexamine whether they should do similarly eventually. The world has moved on. Fix it and I would buy XILS products again.

I remember It been quite often complains (what I generally agree with) about zillion UI files on system partition. I hope other developers won't follow this path.
