It is possible that some devs may have been put off joining based on the amount of secondhand trade going on with them.
This will likely negatively impact their revenue. But it's also an afront to musicians that make little to no money in the "business". I predict within 5 years these companies that restricted their license transfer policy will go back to a more open policy. In the meantime we have to do with less. That's fine. There are lots of better options than PA out there with open transfer policies to buy from. :phones:

Not sure if I get the total picture,
I see the foundation of aberrations not caused by users:

Why to suggest users a plugin is worth $300 just to bring it down to a $60 sale?
Does it produce calculated excitement or the feeling to be betrayed?
How`s about giving an announced $300 a realistic $100 and then a $60 sale?

Why not make coupons NFR instead of the product, i.e. by "branding" them to the individual?

Why does 90 users have to pay the price for abusive 10?

Why does users have to see their purchase suddenly declared as NFR?

Why should companies join the alliance if conditions are stamped on them and users?

Conclusion for now:
don`t let users pay for company`s flunders and miscalculations
or it becomes a game of projections and obstructs consecutive analysis.

Where specifically does it show NFR on the products details page?

I think people who are concened about this should email PA/Dirk and tell them of their grievance.

I'm glad I buy stuff I'll end up keeping

No problem for me so far, but I can see how this might be a problem for some.

It's a problem for everyone unless you never sell. Half the reason you buy is because it has resale value. Now it doesn't anymore.

Come on, with all the GAS on this forum i'm pretty sure everyone has a few things they don't need and never use.

I do have a bunch of plugs I basically never use and I even have double licenses of some plugs, like NI Massive, some AIR plugs, etc. At some point I might sell something but I never bought anything with the intention to sell.

Anyone have any thoughts on PA adding an extra month to your voucher timetable? I'm at $75. If this ends in April, should that now get bumped to May due to the lack of a voucher this month?

I almost started my own thread but this is close enough!

This.... as everyone should know we never own software we buy, we buy a license to use it. I have sold maybe two license for Maschine expansions i had two of. It's the only software license I have ever sold.

There are a few expensive orchestral sample libraries I bought and have buyer's remorse because there was no demo. Alas I can't sell them.
I buy software cause it will help my workflow or I like the sound of it etc...
I never buy software thinking to resell.
I find it very strange that someone would buy software license for its resale value. Unlike hardware it always depreciates, no? (unless of course you buy it on sale and find someone stupid/desperate enough to buy it from you at a higher price than you bought it for)

sadly all was fine til dirk moved to cali and bought a house... i reckon taxes in that state are absurd 'cos it feels like dirk and co are scrounging for dollars in every way shape and fashion.

as was pointed out previously one major factor in buying a product is being able to resell the product if need be. that is why i don't pay for bloody subscriptions. same principal... i see it as throwing money away each month. i have seen companies that want to sell you a NFR from the start as if they will get themselves more original buyers and avoid second hand sells when in fact it hurts them in the long run. there is too much 'good' stuff to choose from than to play games with greedy folk. i for one will not buy a NFR license because no one knows the future and one MAY need to recoup some of their investments.

i have also never bought a product which i had plans to resell... i buy because i like them and want them but i have a pile of plugins i don't use over the years and i'd like to think if i needed i could get rid of some of them and help others out by offering a reasonable price to them. i am not greedy and i know i got more than my money's worth out of them.

bottom line imo is this is just another ploy to boost coffers and long time supporters of PA are right in the crossfire

Nobody wants them as they will become nfr. :hihi:

 I doubt this is it.

It's obvious that they are trying to find a good income model. First culling the vouchers and then sales too. And now culling the second hand market.

I'm not particularly worried because I usually buy plugins to use them and rarely want to sell them. That said, I have sold couple of extra plugins as well as I sold off all my PSP plugins when they went iLok. I have also bought couple second hand. Some of them probably have become nfr but I don't care much as I don't plan on selling them.

I'd rather have them clamp down on second hand market than do away with occasional 9$ and 19$ sales.

Limiting resales of the same plugin is a reasonable step against bulk resellers. The NFR is a bit nasty, means somebody will get stuck with a plugin that would have otherwise bounced between a few people before finding a good home.

Making that retroactive is especially dubious though. Disappointed in PA, thought they were cooler than that.
