What opera are you listening to now

Not exactly an opera but a sung ballet but just ravishing music and dance

Coincidence or not, like previous posters, I recently listen to Wozzeck, a real masterpiece as soon as you can deal with the story and the characters.

Berg's Wozzeck and LuLu are 2 of my favorite operas!
IMO Alban Berg is 1 of the most talented and underrated composers in 20th century classical music.

When Berg's second opera Lulu was branded Entartete Musik (degenerate music) by the Nazi Party, [Erich] Kleiber, who was not Jewish and therefore could have continued his career under the Nazi regime, resigned from his post at the Berlin State Opera in protest and under the pressure of the regime.

Eventually, Erich Kleiber went into exile with his family and took the post of conductor of the Colon Opera in Buenos Aires until the end of the war.

I'm not an opera listener but I can make an exception, as this sounds more intense than many heavy metal tunes.
