Yes, I didn't explained well, I meant more algorithms for filter with Drive modes, not types.
Ableton has following ones to choose from:
- CLEAN - plain like Bitwig's
- MS2 - Sallen Key with LM13700COR (eg. MS20 mk2)
- SMP - Custom designed circuit with half way between an MS2 and OSR
- OSR - State variable filter with OTA core (eg. OSCar)
- PRD - transistor ladder core with differential buffer (eg. Prodigy)
- Morph - Awesome morphing mode

I like the sound quality of those filters... The Bitwig filters are functional, but kinda plain and bit boringtrancema wrote: Wed Dec 05, 2018 11:02 pmYes, I didn't explained well, I meant more algorithms for filter with Drive modes, not types.

I would have been the perfect target for Live, as I am a Max/MSP head from early days. I even got at some point a full license of Live 8 on my Mac from a job...
It really never clicked with me. I tried, and more or less succeeded, to port my spacialisation patches into M4L, but it was such a pain. Never even fixed the bugs, wasn‘t worth it.
I got Bitwig with a keyboard bundle cheaply and that clicked immediately. On first sight they look pretty similar, but in Live I got stuck with annoying limitations immediately, whereas Bitwig gave me more freedom by delivering workflows which made certain things easier as it would have been in Max alone...
Main reason never to look back is, as a player of an expressive Linnstrument, I am in expressive heaven in Bitwig. Ableton has never heard of MPE no matter how big the signs...

Does anyone know of an alternative solution to the pre-emptive recording function in Live 10? Damn, I really miss that function.

i like this pre-emptive recording too. alternatively just hit the record button, every time, you play something and make it a habit. sounds a bit stupid, but it works.DrGonzo wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 10:58 am Does anyone know of an alternative solution to the pre-emptive recording function in Live 10? Yes - it's probably a better idea in the long run to make it a habit, rather than relying on the features of software.

Bitwig and Ableton are just different playgrounds. there's a lot of similarities, but i wouldn't want to play 'Ableton' in Bitwig and vice versa. Bitwig brings back the flow, i had in Reason 15 years ago: these surprising results, because i think: 'modulation' first and then i think about structure, when i use it. Ableton is more "wrestling with loops" first and then 'structure'. Cubase, Studio One and Logic e.g. are more: how to compose and arrange a song and then mix it etc.DrGonzo wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 11:16 ammellotronaut wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 11:12 ami like this pre-emptive recording too. alternatively just hit the record button, every time, you play something and make it a habit. sounds a bit stupid, but it works.DrGonzo wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 10:58 am Does anyone know of an alternative solution to the pre-emptive recording function in Live 10? Been fooling around with trying to make a track in Bitwig and although I am keeping it simple as hell - basically recording clips and making variations of them - I have a good feeling about Bitwig. It has a nice flow to it. I can absolutely imagine myself getting used to it.

What is it about Swedes invading the audio reviews and tutorials.

I am still using both and can't completely switch, I love Bitwig for the MPE integration and the modulators but I'm still used to the general workflow, the capture function and everything else in Ableton...
