Has the KVR time been changed to a different time zone? Seems like it's very different from the previous UTC-8:00 :) ... Now it's sitting at UTC, flat.
The Rules page for OSC has now been amended to make it clear that deadline for OSC is now UTC-8 instead of previous KVR time which had changed.
Thank you to all for your feedback on this.

Thanks :tu:

So this is more-or-less USA west coast @ midnight (though daylight savings time would affect it), that sounds good to me! :)

I hope there will be a MDA jx10/dx10 one synth challenge. I keep wondering how that would be.

Yeah :D I'm at UTC+2 so the usual UTC-8 has always meant... the deadline is 10 AM, first day of the month. Usually leading to a predictable methodology of "augh, need to get that OSC done -> all nighter until 10 AM" :P

I had my fingers crossed it's going to be the much more relaxed (for me) UTC from now on, but preserving UTC-8 is very cool too :------D

And let's face it, it's been almost a year since I last participated, so... Augh augh.

Which gives us mere mortals a chance to win :hihi:

Coming from you, that's quite something :D

I've broken just about every OSC rule to get some 'reasonable' (pun intended) sounds from a-reasonable synth , the built-in "synth" from Ardour :hihi:

Yeah, there had been monster hits made with a Vl-1...

Let's do it!

A candidate for the next round could be Sprike, an enhanced variant of tunefish 4:

Seems Mac only, but looking at the source it's Juce based, which would mean it would compile for all OS (mac/win/lin)

My fault, take this link to choose:

I found Tunefish sorta wacky to use, but ultimately was able to get some really amazing sounds out of it. Sprike sounds like there's not a whole lot of difference sonically, but I'm sure would make for a good OSC if it's stable! So big +1 on that.

Post

I'm definitely up for Sprike!

I haven't used tunefish 4 yet, this is quite an unconventional synth :D Additive? Sign me up!
I had a quick play around and this thing has a lot of features, you can use all 4 filter types at the same time and a formant on top of that. It also has a Flanger and Chorus, so lots of normally banned modulation effects :D

Some of the presets area a bit clicky... I think this will certainly be a challenge to create presets from init - I think the key to interesting sounds may be the MOD Matrix.
Would be a nice change from a regular VA synth.
