*Please* don't take this the wrong way, y'all (and an honest thanks to all of you good people for some entertaining conversation!) But it would be nice to read or hear something - anything! - about good ole' S1 every now and then, here in it's own thread! - Or am I wrong even saying? Maybe it *has* seen it's day - heaven knows that there are probably more patches for S1 then almost any soft synth on the market -

Interesting. Only listened to the first track that played on the list (track 2) but will listen to more later.sqigls wrote: Sat Dec 08, 2018 2:54 pm bung this on yer ear buds waggles...

Quirky. Kind of minimalist, erratic beat, unpredictable. Would have a very difficult time classifying it. Certainly not the usual 4 on the floor, supersaw and wub wub that I hear a lot around here.
Kind of stuff I'd probably listen to while having lunch.
Yours? Someone you know? Or just a random track you decided to toss up there?
Just curious as I'm not going to make any assumptions.
Anyway, inoffensive enough. Not the kind of thing I normally listen to, not that I spend a lot of time listening to music anymore anyway, but nothing that made me go screaming from the room. Personally, I guess I would have liked more melody so I could have something to guide me through the piece. Minimalist stuff like this tends to make me lose focus and drift off. I guess if I'm meditating that's fine. But then I wouldn't want the beat in there.

Sqigls: very nice! 3-5 note repeating pattern, laid down/mixed in a very relaxing way! I play a lot of: 'No Man's Sky' - I think that this track would work well as 'sonic wallpaper' against the majority of gentle activity that happens in the game -

^ Listened to the 1st track, btw. Tangerine Dream-ish - reminds me a little of: 'Love on a Real Train' - I'm not posting a link to that, but it's on YouTube.

A very nice album cover, too.

^ Definitely a cool album cover!
Ok, in the context of thread, and the sweet bit of sqigls music posted above - I think that this is a fairly impressive sound:

You are the only one who thinks his opinion is fact. I sure don't. I have strong, undiplomatic views, yes, but they are subjective, of course, which by the way I have said repeatedly myself in various threads.wagtunes wrote: Sat Dec 08, 2018 1:42 pmI don't know nor care what EDM fans think about other genres. And still for the life of me I can't figure out why you're even here. You hate 90% of the stuff here. The only synth you have anything nice to say about is Sylenth1. Nothing that comes out of your mouth about anything else is EVER positive. You are without a doubt the Scrouge of KVR.
I hope you're not like this in real life because like how could anybody even live with you?
Well, is it my fault that I don't like most synths? Also, when looking at my subscription list, there are many threads on other synths where I also say both good things and bad things about them. Just like with S1 by the way, which is why there are a number of posts of mine in the suggestions thread in the LD forum. There definitely is room for improvement.
I am somewhat perfectionist, so naturally I focus mostly on what I don't like. So, you might get a completely wrong impression of me. There is no shortage of people who like me

First, for the record this is all just entertainment to me anyway. I sure have no dog in the hunt of "Sylenth 1" vs "Dune" or whatever, never used 'em, not likely to in future. Could not care less. I have used a synth in a track because it suited the track but that wasn't technically the greatest synthesizer build on the planet probably. And so on.
Wags vs Novakill is apples vs oranges.
Novakill is interesting in one way, mixture of 'techno' synths (yeah, sorry, I'm not up on the latest labels for those things) and supposedly a dark metal thrust. But there is such a posture of danger, and hate (album title I Hate God, seriously) and darkness it makes me laugh because the musical choices are just safe. The guy here has dismissed (and so energized by this being brought in he's created a little story about) someone he doesn't know because she's a Daughter, ok. They're all a bunch of silly brainless twats, that lot.
Wags is a songwriter. Songs, tunes, lyrics, rhymes and choices which support that.
Whether somebody that isn't me likes either one is no sign of its quality for me, as I look for what I look for in music.
This has turned into the Music Cafe somehow.

I think my opinion is fact? You really ARE delusional. Not only isn't my opinion fact, but in the grand scheme of things, my opinion is pretty meaningless. Something quite the opposite with you, hence your statement (do I REALLY have to post it again) that YOUR music is "better" than <insert whatever music you don't like>fluffy_little_something wrote: Sat Dec 08, 2018 4:34 pmYou are the only one who thinks his opinion is fact. You do realize that by stating, unequivocally, that one music is "better" than another music, you're stating that as a fact.
News flash. There is no such thing as one music being "better" than another music because the likes and dislikes of any particular music is subjective, not objective.
Do you even KNOW the difference between the two?
The people who like you are probably just as pompous and egotistical as you are.

Thank you. I couldn't have said that any better. I haven't even listened to Novakill's music yet but regardless would never say it is better or worse than what I do. It's all subjective.jancivil wrote: Sat Dec 08, 2018 4:44 pmFirst, for the record this is all just entertainment to me anyway. I hate rap and reggae. But I will never say that either is "bad" music. It is just not music I care to listen to. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less.
This entire thread of "Synth X is better than Synth Y" or "Genre X is better than Genre Y" is laughable.
Again, people need to look up the difference between fact and opinion in the dictionary because some people have no clue what each actually means.

Genre vs genre, I wouldn't do. Because it's rap/hiphop doesn't mean it's bad; the chances are higher that care to craft is not the same as with someone who writes 'Symphony in G minor' or somewhat, but we could get crap either way. Because it's classical doesn't mean it's good.
There is some real shit out there, though, unbelievable. It's not going anywhere useful to question people's choices of music or art, or entertainment in life IME, because everyone brings their own life experience into any or all of it.
