All the wind synthesis methods I've heard so far tend to go for a more mellow tone, whether sample based or physical modelling. It would be wicked if you could do stuff like this with it.

Just checked the video again. Some of the sounds are inching towards to Joe Henderson example, so I might just get what I've been looking for.

As I grasp such things once you've got the modelling engine right - modelling the physics of breath - it's just a matter of tailoring it to the specific instrument ... moreover apparently it's not too far a stretch to drag it into service on strings - as SWAM have done... enjoys some common physics.
