Having bought Dune 2 earlier this year knowing that Dune 3 was in development after messaging Richard I can say this is a welcome, affordable update. The 512 new presets are great, and keeping it backwards compatible with Dune 2 presets is nice since they can all be edited with the new features. Keeping similar layout is petty useful saves learning it all again, found the standard skin a welcome update as it looked around 150% bigger than Dune 2, to then select Large is ideal on 2736x1824 touchscreen 12" laptop to control whilst a touch midi keyboard is on-screen, huge is a bit big for this high DPI resolution, so pretty future proof.

For £59 I find that very fair for all the new additions and presets to learn from, video tutorials on the new features is also a great shout I look forward to those. Synapse seem really quiet compared to others online so videos to share to help others discover the wonders of Dune will be good, and hopefully encourage more sales to continue 3.x development, thank you.

Per unison voice wavetable should become really interesting - I've had some doubts about standard wavetable in the past as I'd love to just see more osc controls that effectively make any waveform that we can tweak/env/lfo in realtime having a similar effect, but maybe it's difficult/near impossible to implement.

My other option was spend £79 for Viper but I stuck with Dune 3 update as I expect a better synth and sound overall, I'll maybe get the Virus clone one day. When I think back to the price hardware updates must have cost, anything in software is already extremely competitively priced, no matter where in the world people are in terms of finance. My (2001) Nova II (same as SuperNova II minus some voices) must've seemed like several hundred pounds of update just for FM and a few extras to anyone using the first version, fortunately it never got beyond II for me (yet) and software does almost as much nowadays, if not more.
Nova II, FL20+Fire, Sytrus, Transistor Bass, DUNE 3, Thorn, Viper, ANA 2 SynthMaster, Discovery Pro, Reason, SugarBytes, SoundToys, LION, TRIAD, Plugin-Alliance, T-Racks, AmpliTube, MODO Drum/Bass, iZotope MPS 2.
One Day: FLEXXX, Alpha Forever, Diversion 2

I still can not copy OSC 1 to OSC2. That remains a mystery to me and why do I have to restart the DAW to play the wavetable I've created. Is that only in the demo? Why is there no updating function such as at HIVE? What bothers me too if I have loaded an audio file and have created a wavetable and then want to load a new audio file why always the wavetable folder of DUNE 3? It would be much easier if I could determine the folder where my audio files are.
Everyone has their own preferences and wishes. I do not want to do the troll here but that's what bothers me personally. Dune3 is high up in the sound.

From what I can tell it does not have audio rate modulation. The GUI is resizeable.
Yes it does have audio rate modulation , just like dune 2
Check settings and set them to high .
Wagtunes , you always profile yourself as a master of knowledge yet you seem to be missing the most basic settings of a synth , in this case 'dune ' .

The SWARM mode has it's own LFO for detune modulation including a "Rate" knob. Besides that it seems to be close to the "Linear" mode.
My factory preset called "Additive Drawbars IW" uses teh SWARM mode and it would sound worse without it. This also uses the additive partials editor to emulate the drawbars of a hammond organ.

The "Nonlinear" Supersaw/Multisaw mode seems to fit to how the JP-8000 works. I had used this in combination with a single cycle wave based on a sample of the JP-8000 and softsynths that seem to emulate it.

I had a crash right now which completely kills the DAW (Cubase 10). But I must test it a bit longer, if this problem occurs in combination with Dune3 and wavetables. Maybe its the same thing.

Please point out to me where I have ever claimed to be a master of knowledge.

If that is your impression of me, that's on you, not me.

Well, correct me if I am wrong, but:

- Still no possibility to copy osc 1 to osc 2.
- Still no Solo button on OSC Mixer, you always have to slide down other OSC's volumes to hear what you are doing :dog:
- Still no right click -> lock knob section.
- Still no drag and drop modulation
- Still small and quite uninspiring mod matrix
- 128 is too low for maximum voices, you ran out of them pretty soon
- Don't really hear any big improvements on the sound itself, sounds just like Dune 2

and it just crashed..

After glorius The Legend, I had high hopes for this, but sadly this doesn't reach them. So, this is not for me. Congrats for the release anyway. Peace.

Is browser updated or its still same as before?
No voice (layer) mixer?
Browser is still the same and is looking very dated for a 'new' synth (especially companied to Hive, Serum etc)

I didn't even want to get into this (the bold part is my absolute favourite "idiosyncrasy" of this synth; one of many idiosyncrasies they're idiosyncratically sticking to; I possible "like" it even more than the integer dials).

Just a tiny bit better/cleaner in terms of VA oscillators (I think the new WT oscillators are cleaner too) and the new filters are quite nice, but honestly (even though it could be better) in terms of sound quality, it is enough of an improvement for me.

Otherwise, I very much still see DUNE 2.

Literally.

Why does Synapse not do a beta phase? See U-HE. They are doing it right. Let the musicians test the synth, e.g. 1 months. There the bugs are found. I have just imported a waveform from Serum. 32bit, 2048 samples. After the second waveform, DUNE3 has completely crashed with Reaper.

The pricing for people on Dune 2 seems a bit unfair, however nice the tweaks are it is not really a major new version. You can buy it 'new' for £130 (which is a fair price) but to get these minor updates (the only one I really need/ant is the GUI update) you have to pay £60...

Ultimately as a Legend/Dune 2 user I know this version will get more features added as time goes on and will become 'better value' with time, but I am not seeing any immediate compelling reason to upgrade just yet....watching with interest though for 3.1...3.2...3.3

I confirmed this happening (I'm using the demo version) with your steps, and I'm using Cakewalk by Bandlab. The whole DAW just closed down. No error message or anything, just...poof! and it's gone.
