I want a way to quickly lay down midi notes so that I can get a quick basic 1 3 5 chord for my warm pad and then a simple way to lay out a basic bass line and then work from there.

I have been out of the game for years and I am back. I fell in love with Waveform 9 and I can make music so quickly with its workflow. I also have Bitwig 1 (Got it cheap on the forums, Dad of five and all that) and I miss the chord track and the pattern generator from Waveform 9 (Cubase and Studio One have an even more fleshed out Chord Track).

Is there a stand alone MIDI pattern generator that I can use that takes chords and measures and outputs MIDI? So I can get 1 3 5 Chords of whole notes or half notes and throw them into a track?

Bitwig is my DAWs and UHe and Tracktion Synths are my Bae. I maybe buy one synth a year. REMEMBER SELF just one synth a year!

You can always find a cheap deal on any ezKeys player, but my favorite is Liquid Music https://www.wavedna.com/liquid-music/

I just noticed they updated this plugin, and it looks interesting. I don't know if you've seen the article on here.
