Why are global settings on the display's main page (which seems to be the patch page)? At the same time patch-specific settings such as pitch bend range are not on the main page.

So, a copy protection which doesn't offer much protection is the only copy protection which should be taken serious in your eyes. Mmh... makes sense. ;)

you, and me, and everyone else should know that's not true. i am fine with one time check responses, but cpu is our limit, and when cpu is involved it's gold. you have to give to cpu. it's physics.

Can somebody tell me if the Dune3 synth overall has improved sound quality?

It's difficult to tell from the page, but it seems like they just added a new swarm mode to the oscillators and added new filter models.

On the page it says "improved oscillators", but it kinda seems like they just mean they just added the new swarm mode.

I mean i tried the demos presets but they're presets...something i'll never use and they're going to sound great to sell the product.

Well from my view, no copy protection protects software, it's a nag screen at best. What stands in my way of these practices, is my refusal to use my knowledge to remove the copy protection by strict moral choice. I wouldn't write this without competent experience.

So, I see it as nothing more than an honor system. Copy protection is a joke. So there is a certain level of expectation that there is honor in return, given this knowledge and my investment.

I did demo it, and will say that it sounds amazing. I definitely prefer the sound of v3 to v2, and would have upgraded already if it wasn't for the change in CP.

so your OS, your host, and all your plugins are serial only?

Correct. FlStudio uses a reg text file, Tone2, Uhe (Diva, Bazille, Hive), Audio Damage, Lush 101, Mikron Reverb, AudioThing, Dune 2, etc.. are all serial only.

The only ones worth keeping.

I do own others that are online challenge, but I toss them out of my workflow before long.

At least you will still be able to use your fully-functioning, legitimately purchased & registered software from them regardless of it phoning home, without having to ask for more authorizations after you've upgraded to new systems a few times over.
I'll pass thanks, i dont trust ppl who hide things, even if they stopped (apparently) when they were caught out.

i dont update my system much, but even if i did, i cant see a problem. Even if Synapse were to quit, im sure they would do what others have done and release a final version that users could continue to use.

Could you give me some examples of companies that have utilized such methods of CP offering a final version when they close up shop? As far as I'm concerned, I buy software *as-is* without any exceptions of updates, or that anything shall change if the company goes under, including methods of CP.

I admit I bought challenge response once upon a time. I'm not proud of it, but everyone makes mistakes. Waves for example. After my experience with Waves, I never went back.

My OS, Windows 3.1 of course. :-)

I would say the OS is irrelevant anyway considering that all of your software is cross compatible between Windows & OS X, and if you're not building a computer, either one of these OSes are included with it.
