Is there a demo yet? Don't find a link on the product page...

Well Arturia built my dream software synth. :hihi: And I can only imagine what is to come when they add other engines/filters to this monster.

And for KVR haters, bye Felicia.

God am I jaded.
I really don't think you are. I suspect that it is inevitable that people are going to wake up to the reality that there really is only so far that synthesis can go in terms of "NEVER BEFORE HEARD SOUNDS!!!"

I mean, in all honesty, they may well make these sounds, but how would anyone actually know? When you scroll through presets on pretty much any synth, everything is thrown into the usual suspects of leads, pads, basses etc. etc.... There are millions of these sounds out there with immense amounts of overlap between synths and even within individual synths.

There may well be users whose ears are so fine tuned that they can get these tiny variations that may exist and to them they see the value on buying all the new shinies, but from my perspective, I listen to them as they come out these days and say to myself, "yeh, they may sound really nice, but are they actually doing anything THAT new?" and put away the credit card...just my 2c
It also really looks great, a clever and very modern looking GUI (perhaps the best of all the wavetable synths) but yes, its essentially wavetable and analog mixed through some pretty nice filters....it can't really sound 'revolutionary'....but it may sound 'best in class' it may be joy to work with....I will let you know when I have tried the demo...I will be a hard sell unless it is very cheap for V6 owners as I have Icarus and Serum etc.

+1

So is this what a company as big as Arturia came up with (of their own design) after so many years?

It's not yet available in there. Guess it becomes available when it is on sale too...

The other products can be downloaded as a demo from there. Guess i'll demo the Matrix-12 in the meantime. :)

Worth to demo for sure. I like crazy modulations.
I mean modulate modulators with modulators which are modulated by modulators are not new and groundbreaking.
There are already synths which can use unlimted amount of LFOs and also unlimited layers to modulate modulators.
But maybe there is a lot more.

Post

Oh and i really like the GUI and the workflow looks nice as well. A modern aproach i like.

Post

Wait....just 3 LFOs and Envelopes?

It is supposed to be a music synthesizer, not the next space rocket technology

Anyway, there are sufficient "new" things here to justify at least to give a go on the demo. Remember that you can work with it without limitations for 30 days. And you will be surprised with how light on the CPU all this power is.

And what is "new" nowadays, anyway? The newest synthesis techniques were already invented more than 40 years ago (FM and other distortion synthesis methods, FOF, granular). Sampling started with the GRM experiments after the war. Additive was implemented in the big RCA Music Synthesizer. When Bob Moog and Don Buchla created their modulars, the synthesis techniques they used were NOT new already. What was new was building hardware to perform those. And it's funny that people say there's nothing new in here, and start salivating when some company says they will start working in "another" emulation of some old and primitive subtractive synth :nutter:
