Very interesting, thanks. It's good to know Emvoice is not alone trying to offer something new in this field :)
I found a longer demo song here https://youtu.be/vrE0ylOeSCs

In my opinion, this is a nice improvement over anything that's been commercially released at this point. Some lines may even be mistaken for a real singer, at least with heavy arrangements behind. Nice job.
The slick production aside, which is obviously very well done, these vocals don't even sound as good as the more recent Vocaloid voices let alone a real singer. In fact, this software sounds like the early Vocaloid Japanese vocalists that I didn't even go near and stayed away from until they made something that sounded at least close to human.

So I have no idea what you're hearing in this but I'll still take Vocaloid over this any day of the week.

Thanks! For those who are interested, Emvoice One (new name of the plugin) will be released in early beta on August 15th. You can sign up on http://www.emvoiceapp.com (Mac only for now). Here is a video for those who haven't heard it. Full disclosure: I'm the CEO of Emvoice.

Ok! Now we're getting somewhere.

Hi, I really enjoyed your original Komponant "take me away" proof of concept esp. the timbre of the voice itself.

I hope you'll consider making similar "older"-sounding voices someday. Supported western Vocaloids don't have many equivalents of Kaito or Sachiko right now.

Vocaloid1 Kaito
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QVu3s7l9oc
Cover of the iconic "World Is Mine" Hatsune Miku song, from the man's pov.

Vocaloid4 Sachiko
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6zq-wU2S1U
Vocaloid based on the enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi, maybe more familiar to Americans as an iron chef judge.

If any pros involved in Western Vocaloid development are reading this, please do the same thanks.

I didn't forget, it was a deliberate omission!
Her voice provider is 17 years old!
17 years old for the past 36 years, so it doesn't count! 8)

That's good. hopefully it gets better with updates.

On the subject of Emvoice, wouldn't it be better to have its own thread?

There is upgrade pricing available if you own Vocaloid 3 Editor or Vocaloid 4 Editor. I do not believe they allow license transfer.

I think so too....No License Transfer Allowed....although there's option of Deauthorizing and Authorizing to a new computer but transfer to a new owner is nowhere mentioned....

Thanks for your Input....

Vocaloid 5.0.2 is finally out, and it's got some stuff (tho not all of them) that people desparately needed:
  • Fixes a bug in the Windows version where the program crashes when you perform an audio mixdown.
Fixes a bug where using a sample rate other than 44.1kHz in the Windows version of VOCALOID5 VSTi for FL Studio causes the program to freeze.
Fixes a bug that causes the track header to disappear in the Mac version of VOCALOID5 VSTi/AU for Ableton Live.

Version 5.0.3 has been released
http://www.vocaloid.com/en/support/download/update_v5e/
General performance improvements
Fixed a bug where the program would crash if you moved the Control Parameters (Windows)
General stability improvements
please could we get some new hi-quality professionally-recorded voicebanks

Post

5.0.3's GUI feels waaayyyy more responsive wrt zooming and working in the Lower Zone. Before when I zoomed too deep there was several seconds of lag as it redrew the piano roll. Much better now

Also uh, is it me or did they up the max resolution of zoom? Fully zoomed looks HUGE. no its me

Yamaha recently dropped a bunch of updates:

Vocaloid 5.2.0 releeased. This is a big (1GB+) downloads which also patches the pack-in vbs (Amy/Chris/Kaori/Ken) to 5.2.0. https://www.vocaloid.com/en/support/dow ... pdate_v5e/
  • Added support for the following in the VST/AU version (limited to DAW equipped with ReWire)
    • Changing the song position
    • Turning the Loop feature On/Off
    • Adjusting the Loop range
  • The key and tempo are now displayed in the Media List.
  • It is now possible to save the key and tempo when saving media.
  • It is now possible to save WAV phrases as media.
  • When dragging media files into the arrangement, it is not possible to transpose to a specific key.
  • Improvement of tag narrowing refinement.
  • Added the function to reset tag refinement.
  • It is now possible to add media, by double-clicking.
  • It is now possible to sample media multiple times by single-clicking on it.
  • Added the function to quickly adjust the phrase to double tempo or half tempo.
  • Styles are not removed when changing Voice Banks.
  • Rename some phrases.
  • Improved rendering processing speeds, added support for multicore / multithreading.
  • Improved Singing Skill processing speed.
Re the bolded points, Yamaha's officla VOCALOID Youtube channel has tutorials on how to enable in select DAWs. It involves running Rewire AND vst both.

4 free phrase packs now available: Future Bass, Tech House, Trap & Arabic Indie
https://www.vocaloid.com/en/vocaloid_ph ... ck_series/
you must update the editor first, then they'll ofer the downloads in-program. Inclusions of Arabic motifs kinda interesting, maybe they're going to expand compatible singing languages soon?

Unsure how useful tihs will be to KVR members, but the download shop now has VOCALOID4 Chinese and Korean voicebanks for sale. They were really hard for users outside those countries to buy until this happened.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Vocaloid 5 editor and Maiko with her eng job or just jobs in general? I see that the 5th edition doesn't support jobs natively but is there any work around to get the same functionality?

Post

Vocaloid 5, in a nutshell, is a huge disappointment. Especially for those who were using the Vocaloid 4 Cubase Editor. Working with the new editor is like pulling teeth and I refuse to do it. I won't go into all the details on how limited it is. Yes, it sounds good. Yes, there is more functionality. The problem is with the piano roll itself. It doesn't scroll easily. Copy and paste is painful. You can only view a small section of the piano roll at a time, unlike the Cubase 4 editor that easily allows you to scroll through it.

And there is no easy workaround for what you're looking for, as far as I know. Of course I gave up on V5 after about a week and have gone back to V4.
