Hard to say. Maybe I was simply looking for some sort of orientation as the knobs are so different from sliders, they seem to cover only 270° of the full circle. I just don't like knobs for envelopesAnX wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 5:58 pmi used to think that, because some synths had it. Then i realised there wasnt a single occasion i set the knobs to a specific time as i used my ears to shape the sound.fluffy_little_something wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 5:33 pm It might be more useful if envelope times were shown in ms and s, instead of %, especially since they are not linear.
can you give an example of where it would be useful?
DUNE 3 is now available!!

Well... it can be useful. E.g. for pads, i have a certain "sweet spot" at about 5 to 6 seconds attack time, and 7 or 8 seconds release time. Envelope time display also indicates how long the envelope stages are at maximum. Problem is, like with frequency display for the Cutoff knob, that the time can vary when the envelopes are modulated, e.g. by keytracking.

You mean ms rather than s?

No. Seconds. Can you make pads with 5 or 6 milliseconds attack time, and 7 or 8 milliseconds release?
I mean, i suppose you could... but... it wouldn't really be pads.

Haven't you seen any pluck pads? With a fast attack, but then it drops and turns into an evolving texture?!chk071 wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 6:21 pm No. Seconds. Ah, hadn't "consciously" read the word pads.chk071 wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 6:21 pm No. Seconds. Can you make pads with 5 or 6 milliseconds attack time, and 7 or 8 milliseconds release?I mean, i suppose you could... but... it wouldn't really be pads.
I think the term "sweet spot" caused a contradiction with 5-8 seconds in my mind, more of a massive sweet range

Well, OK then. I meant those slowly fading in fading out ones though.Ghost Dog wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 6:24 pmHaven't you seen any pluck pads? What Hive or any or synth/manufacturer has done is irrelevant. Synapse can call it what they want and charge what they want for any upgrade. The fact is for Dune 2 we all got some nice updates for free. They have now decided that the version number is being bumped and if you're a previous owner the upgrade cost is $79. If you don't think the new features plus the new sounds is worth $79 then simply don't buy it and continue to use Dune 2.![]()
Just tired of this type of behavior and I don't see the point of coming to forums to talk shit about people doing hard work. And I just don't get the energy people seem to have to come into this forum (or any other for that matter) and keep doing it, day after day.
well, i was kidding, totally agree (and ive been here since 2000/2001)![]()

Not necessarily. Depends on the actual shape of the envelope.SoundPorn wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 7:00 pm I just have to say a 5 second attack time is absolutely ridiculous lol.

Especially with up to eight layers of sound, one of them "chiming-in" late(r) tends to be very interesting.
