Hi, looking at getting crusherX but it is a bit overwhelming. The impression I get is crusher X could get close to simulating the product in the video below - but is that a correct impression, and if so, how would crusherX do that ?

thanks for any help

Hello!

The video you posted is 10 minutes long with several effect going on, what part exactly are you referring to? If you're simply and generally wondering if Crusher-X can do that pitch shifting, then of course it does and much more. Probably in a more extreme fashion too.

It should be able to do pseudo stereo effects and groups of voices easily. Of course if you want just that effect then you can get it for free...

Oh... If he meant that specific pseudo stereo effect, of course yeah. A little micro bit of delay, random pan per grains and you'll have a wide stereo effect. But yeah, getting Crusher-X only for that would be way way overkill just for this type of effect. As V0RT3X said there are other cheaper options.

Double, sorry

thanks for the replies - I should have been more specific but it really is all of the functionality I am interested in. But yes it is the pitch shifting triggered by midi , mono or polyphonic mainly.
I guess what concerns me with crusherX as I demo it is the complexity - it isn't the world's greatest interface - which has me struggling to get clear discrete sounds with a frequency or amplitude envelope that is easily predicted.
Also the clarity of the midi triggered pitch shifting in the video - I have not been able to get anything that clear, without obvious "grain"
Any suggested techniques, examples or demo videos would be much appreciated between now and whenever it goes off sale

You might get used to the interface with time, but yes it's busy with lot of controls.

Regarding the clarity of the granular processing, have you tried playing with the Window Type combined with lot of grain Generators? The more grains in the Generators, the smoother it'll sound as grains overlap and create clouds. You could also add a tiny bit of Generator Offset.

No videos regarding this specific effect, but I'm sure you can find some over Youtube.

thanks again for the tip - I'm struggling to find good videos actually, they tend to the "here is a sound which I will now FU so that is sounds more or less the same as the other sounds I FU"

Oh man, another PAID update...

Seems like every couple of months we’re expect to pay between 49 and 89 euros to keep up to date.

Accsone, it’s getting too expensive!

Whilst I am happy to be able to upgrade from version 6 for a reasonable price at last, surely charging version 7 users €49 for a point release is a mistake in the store?

I don't think it is. I just downloaded my latest available version and it's 7.2.

I've spent over $100 in updates this year if I buy this... just updates and it cost me nearly $200 to buy it 18 months ago... It's actually crazy now I really think about it.

We should invite the 'rent-a-mob' crowd from the Plugin Alliance thread(s) over ;)

I've been away from Crusher-X for a long time. Now that I have it back, are all updates paid ones or accSone do free updates as well too from time to time?

Post

crusher-X 7.3 (May), 7.10 (August), 7.14 (October) were free updates
