I like a lot of what I'm getting out of this.

There's a couple things I'd like to see in the future, though. While I like the function generators and the combinations, I'd really to see them take the tracking generator from their Matrix 12 emulation. It's really handy for things like when you only want the mod wheel to be active at the very end of the wheel travel or getting multiple variations of the same modulation source.

Oh- and bring all of the Matrix 12's filter options to the party while you're at it.

How many filter types does it have from their other synths? I was curious if it has the ones that are in the Matrix 12 V.

I am not home until later, but I’ll check out the demo version at that point.

It has eight types: MultiMode, SEM, Matrix 12, Mini, Surgeon, Comb, Phaser, Formant. There is also a Multi filter in the effects section, and you can have nine effects in total.

It sounds nothing at all like Buchla Easel V. I don't think it sounds like their Synclavier or Solina stuff either.
I don't agree, IMO, there's still an "Arturia sheen" to those and the other two dozen synth/keyboard plugins they make.
The Synclavier sounds like the Matrix V to you? Sounds like the CS80?

For years I was slightly annoyed at Arturia for making VSTi's that didn't exactly sound like the synth they claimed to, close, but not the same. KVR comments about them from users like you I would see the point of. That's a long gone conclusion made about synths designed in 2003 or so...

The CMI does not sound like the SEM, does not sound like Solina v2, or the Matrix V etc. if it does to you, you're ears are suffering cognitive bias.

I have to agree. I'm no Arturia fanboi but these synths sound nothing alike

Synclavier V
CMI V
Easel V

And what they did to the Synclavier, and a free update no less, was off the charts amazing.

However, their Matrix filter selections are a small subset of what Matrix 12 V has. And, of course, the ones that are missing are the ones I'd use the most. For example, I use the lowpass 3 pole a lot.

Some of these also have their own types, for example the Matrix 12 has 7 or so flavours of its own (although not all the ones in the Matrix 12v, maybe because there is overlap with the others?)

I don't know, but Arturia's marketing department probably got involved at some point and said, well gee, we can't make a new product that competes with what we're known for best.

You may notice that applies to basically other developers that have multiple products. Those with a single product have nothing to lose when adding every bell and whistle to their main instrument.

Yes, I did the same remark. Something came out that prevent to include all the 15 modes of the Matrix-12 filter, but I think (hope) that a future version will include the remaining ones, so we will have ALL of them.

It can't be a init patch. It defaults to a sine wave, not a sawtooth!
