Something a bit more laid back. Mixed on the little speakers but seems ok - no doubt a bit of tinkering to follow;
http://www.bennyleeds7.myfreeola.uk/don ... closed.mp3
Was messing about with an open tuning on the acoustic (some of the playing is shall we say, 'loose') and came up with this, very much in the English folk stylee (at least the start; couldn't resist throwing all sorts of other shite at it.. f**kers are always complaining about short songs..) Also first time I've tried the TC Aeon on the acoustic (cheap ebow copy to you and me..). Nice!
Usually my lyrics are quite oblique (i.e. random bollocks...) but this was directly inspired by reading this;

If you're going to do a folky type song, it should be political..

Comments: You know, growing up in the 60s, one of the things you looked forward to was the new Beatles record. It was almost like an event. Well, that's almost how I feel when I see you post a new song because I know, 9 times out of 10 (even the Beatles did some bad stuff <cough> Revolution 9) I know it's going to be something good. This one doesn't disappoint. Eventually, I will get a handle on your natural style. I'm not quite there yet, but when I do, I'm going to do a DT tribute CD, similar to when I did 'Raising Kane" in tribute to one of the Gearslutz members who does kind of a funk, R&B thing. Anyway, very cool tune and very well done. How long have you been doing this again?

A solid folk tune (which is not exactly my wheelhouse). The chorus resonates with me. The lyrics are top notch throughout.
For my tastes, you have too much processing in your vocal chain especially for acoustic material like this. Here the vox are loud and there still is a loss of clarity and intelligibility.

You'll need lots of open chords with drone strings, played in different inversions, with fat fingers missing the frets half the time. Singing wise, if you smoke enough you'll get it eventually.

Fair comment. This new mic (Rode Nt1) is a lot more natural in the highs than the more hyped AKG and other ones I was using so I didn't need to roll off as much high end fizz. I've updated it now, and lowered the other vocal tracks very slightly. Sounds clearer to me cheers.Frantz wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 3:08 am A solid folk tune (which is not exactly my wheelhouse). Cheers.
The tuning is rather nice by the way, if any geetarists want to mess it's (lowest first);
E-B-D-F#-B-D
As usual, found by the infallible method of randomly turning the tuning pegs until something nice transpires..

Really good. Nice Celtic vibe. Interestingly, I find the voice a bit buried, listening on good cans through good AD/DA converters. Sentiments expressed are certainly ones I can agree with. Strange tuning, though, lol.

A nice folk type song! For me, it recalls the best of the folk/pop/rock 70’s era transported to present indie music.
For some reason It conjours up the David Bowie song God Knows I’m Good from his Space Oddity album.

Very good! Your voice sounds fantastic. Reminds me a bit of a track on Portishead's Third.

The vocals sound better! Clearer and more natural.donkey tugger wrote: ↑Sat Dec 15, 2018 8:00 am Fair comment. Don't know what you're complaining .. Sounds good. I heard it through and it was not boring or something.
