Hello,

I want to know if there is a DAW which is just (or maybe)updated for running on current systems?
No feature wishlist which has to done from the developer.
No Upgrade options. Not today not tomorrow.

Can be 32/64. I will use it with Vemberaudio Surge.

Can be 32/64. I will use it with Vemberaudio Surge.

Edit: I found JJ Sequencer (from the MPC alternative OS Maker) but it offers no VST Support.
Maybe there are alternatives
There comes only one to my mind... no actually 2:

- Zynewave Podium
- EnergyXT
...
both of them are more or less dead or at least that slowly developed that it looks like standstill

Tracktion 7

I don't understand the question...
No matter how, the answers don't lead me to how to understand the question either...
If you want to test Surge on the latest systems get any which is actively developed...
If it should be cross platform and free, get Ardour for example or with the latest Computer Music Magazin Bitwig 8-track. Reaper is free for 60 days and would still run afterwards...
Best to test AU on OS X would be Garageband which is free as well...

If youre looking for a free daw, you can try Bandlab Cakewalk. Totally free And a pretty nice daw.

If you want to play just Surge then SaviHost should fit the bill. It's free here http://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm
If you want to play more than one VST at a time try VSTHost http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm

I don't know how often it's updated, but it seems to work ok

Thanks for your replys.
The thing is that i´m tired of all those feature update madness which comes arround. I can´t really focus on that was neccessary. I choice SW since 2012 and sold my Virus TI to exchange it with Vemberaudio Surge and Dune 1. Both on not to fast computer. then Ableton. 8...9...10(sold it) Cubase(i owned Cubase XL many years ago) Bitwig 8 track...VST Host, Reaktor with Maschine.
I decided to choice Reason 10 but meanwhile they also update al lot with features and i don´t see the wood for the trees.

I can work with all but Reaktor for exsample. Next version will have Cables in front. Like VCV Rack, Like Complex-1 and ,,like´´ the ,,Ableton Modular Synth´´... There is no slow down for user. Then sales with 50% and more. And NFR on holidays and so on...

Every free daw wants my details and do offer for upgrade. A vicious circle.

I don´t want go back to HW like the MPC 2500 or similar or a combination between a Softsynth and HW sequencer/sampler.
I like ITB a lot. I like electronic music and making but i feel overdosed.
By the way similar happens on Elektron gear ,,fans´´ they see the mk2 or one of those tiny boxes and get freaky.
Elektron will be Monomachine and Machindrum forever in my mind. The best you tube performance i saw comes out of a time where both machines exist and notthing more.

I´m really unhappy with the situation and short i think i giving away the accounts and be free again.
Edit: I´m really angry and would lovely enter the account details for a CubaseSX3 :-x

I recommend Tracktion 7. It's free and there's no real pressure to upgrade.
It's reasonably stable compared to earlier versions. Still not as stable as Reaper, but nothing is :)

Renoise.

It is a tracker (heavily keyboard-based), but seeing you tried VSTHost I guess you are not married to the ProTools-style workflow.

Renoise certainly doesn't suffer from "Updates With Too Much Stuff Syndrome" (most users complain of the opposite).

No fake cables, no overbearing marketing. Not free, but it has good demo version you can try (always demo, of course, I mean, won't claim Renoise will inspire you). They don't make sales (no sales in the last 6+ years). Has Win, Mac and Linux versions.

I dont get it, nobody makes you upgrade. Just find a daw you like now and never update it, job done.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.
