I was in an out-of-the-way vinyl and CD shop in Santa Barbara. They were playing a CD of neat electronic music. It wasn't heavy, but as I recall it didn't use much pads, if any. It filled the space with little bloops and plucks. It was pleasant.

I asked the guy at the counter what the name of the band was. It was -----------------. I forgot. Some long German-sounding name. All one word, so don't bother suggesting Einsturzende Neubauten. It didn't sound anything like them anyway. Anybody have any ideas? Geschlaftegieren? Stoffenhausengefahrigest? Hotentotenpotentatenattentatendaten? I'm just being silly now.

But seriously, :help:

Bloops and plucks doesn't really seem to indicate Neubauten. You don't happen to have a sample of this or anything, do you?

If n ot Neubaten, was it Kraftwerk?

:P

You might need to give us a bit more to go on. Were there drums? Vocals? Was it noisy? Peaceful? Was it new or from the 80s,70s? Were they saying DA DA DA over and over again?

Feindflug - Glaubenskrieg ??

never heard them, snagged it off a lj entry.. they usually are on top of the contemporary. unless oc it's a joke cos i forget what glauben is.

(except from the beginning of def leppard)
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

It was definitely a single, long German name. Perhaps 12-14 characters long. Not sure about that.

As far as I could tell, it was new. I already know about Autechre and Kraftwerk; it was neither of them. I had never heard of them before nor have I heard of them since.

No vocals, as I recall. It wasn't so much peaceful as it wasn't harsh in any way. It sounded fairly analog.

Sorry, I don't have anything you can listen to. Thanks to everyone so far!

Funkstorung and Glaubenskrieg are in the right direction but...no. I know a little German and I would have remembered names like those. Perhaps the name was as long as 18 letters.
